Hiring salary range: $19.76 to $21.73 depending on qualifications.

Job Description:

The position coordinates and supervises the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services and Lab inside the Brandon campus Academic Success Center and ensures students are provided with all necessary tutoring assistance.

  • Coordinates and supervises the work of Business, Technology and Bilingual tutors / staff.

  • Monitors and coordinates the activities of and provides support and assistance to assigned lab to enable effective and safe lab operations.

  • Assists the Academic Success Center Manager in determining needs and justification for staffing, supplies and equipment.

  • Maintains inventory of materials and equipment and ensures proper maintenance and repair of equipment.

  • Ensures Academic Success Center operates in compliance with all safety rules.

  • Performs similar and related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:

The position supervises the Business, Technology, and Bilingual tutors / staff. The Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services Lab is designed to assist students by improving their skills and performance in Business, Technology, and Foreign Language, courses. The ASC also provides Bilingual Services to ESL, ELL, and EAP, students at events and upon request, which the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Servies Supervisor would also be tasked with fulfilling this requirement.

  • Provides daily leadership and supervises the Business, Technology, and Bilingual tutors / staff, including scheduling. Also assists in interviewing and recommending new hires.

  • Trains new staff and conducts regular staff evaluations, meetings, and trainings.

  • Prepares regular reports on student use of the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Lab. Evaluates usage statistics and makes recommendations for improved performance of the Academic Success Center.

  • Collaborates closely with the Reading & Writing and Math & Science Labs to make the ASC a welcoming and helpful space forESLandELLstudents.

  • Develops resources (such as workshops and handouts) on academic and non-formal education topics that contribute to student success in Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services.

  • Acts as a liaison between faculty to ensure appropriate and effective Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services Lab support.

  • Works closely with all members of the Academic Success Center team to ensure quality experiences and support for students.

  • Tutors students as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Supervises the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services Lab staff. Assists in the hiring, training, scheduling, observation and evaluation of the Business, Technology, and Bilingual tutors.

  • Maintain, evaluate, and develop resources/technology and make recommendations to implement new programs, initiatives, and resources that aid students with Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services.

  • Orients students in the resources available to them in the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services Lab.

  • Liaise with faculty in development and implementation of specific academic support and maintaining quality standards within the tutorial.

  • Creates weekly reports on student use of the Business, Technology, and Bilingual Services Lab and distributes to faculty. Evaluates usage statistics and makes recommendations for improvements.

  • Participate in ASC staff meetings and report on lab activities.

  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least one year of prior-related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or Bilingual Services / related field and

  • Three years of prior-related work experience.

  • Experience tutoring in Business, Technology, or Bilingual field/s, and experience supervising staff, particularly college students.

  • A proficient reading, writing, and speaking knowledge of Spanish.
