Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced
Bilingual Estimator (English/Spanish) to support the planning, estimating, and execution of complex energy efficiency, renewable energy, and infrastructure construction projects. This position plays a critical role during the pre-construction phase by developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project scope, and supporting bid development for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls, and energy-related projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial and industrial estimating experience, strong knowledge of construction costs, and the ability to communicate complex technical information fluently in both English and Spanish. This individual will collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to help deliver competitive, accurate proposals for a wide range of construction projects.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating efforts for commercial and industrial construction projects involving energy efficiency, energy generation, and energy storage systems.
- Develop detailed cost estimates using RSMeans and other industry-standard estimating software and tools.
- Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing.
- Support all phases of the pre-construction process, including project planning, bid development, proposal preparation, bid evaluation, and contract award recommendations.
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure scope completeness, pricing accuracy, and overall project competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to define project scope, identify risks, and develop value-engineering opportunities.
- Provide estimating support for interior renovation and building improvement projects involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls systems.
- Clearly communicate technical construction documents, project requirements, and estimating information in both English and Spanish.
- Maintain current knowledge of construction costs, market conditions, labor rates, and industry best practices to support accurate estimating.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate technical construction information verbally and in writing.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating and pre-construction services.
- At least 7 years of recent experience estimating commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Strong background in one or more MEP disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building controls systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading pre-construction planning, bid development, bid evaluation, and project award activities.
- Proficiency using RSMeans and other industry-standard estimating software.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Ability to review confidential U.S. security information as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience estimating energy savings performance contracts (ESPC), renewable energy, energy storage, or infrastructure modernization projects.
- Familiarity with value engineering, conceptual estimating, and cost modeling.
- Experience working with government, institutional, higher education, healthcare, or industrial construction projects.
- Previous experience managing multiple estimates and supporting cross-functional pre-construction teams.
- Military construction or military service experience is valued and may be considered in lieu of certain experience requirements.
