Schedule: Full-time. Weekend and holiday availability required.
Shift Expectation: Generally from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
POSITION SUMMARY
The E-Bike Tour Guide is responsible for leading guests on guided e-bike tours through Kualoa Ranch, ensuring safety, guest engagement, and adherence to designated routes. This role requires strong communication skills, attentiveness to guest abilities, and the ability to navigate various terrains while enforcing safety protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate and guide guests through designated e-bike tour routes, providing an engaging and informative experience.
  • Conduct pre-trip safety briefings, including e-bike operation, terrain awareness, and guest safety expectations.
  • Assess guest abilities during test course assessments and determine if riders meet safety standards.
  • Enforce all safety regulations, including proper helmet use, speed control, and safe riding practices.
  • Exhibit a high degree of comfort and professionalism working in close proximity to livestock, including herds of cattle and other animals native to the ranch environment, while ensuring that all guest interactions with the ranch's livestock are conducted safely and respectfully.
  • Monitor guests throughout the tour, conducting stop checks and ensuring proper spacing between riders.
  • Assist with guest check-in, helmet fitting, waiver completion, and e-bike assignments.
  • Perform pre- and post-tour e-bike safety checks, reporting any malfunctions in Fleetio.
  • Assist with test ride area setup, ensuring guests are properly sized for their bikes and understand basic operation.
  • Follow tours leaving the test ride area to Middle Road to ensure guests are comfortable with their e-bikes.
  • Organize and maintain e-bike storage areas, ensuring bikes are charged, lubricated, and properly staged for tours.
  • Conduct trail maintenance, including clearing debris, trimming vegetation, and addressing safety hazards.
  • Use gas-powered equipment such as weed whackers, chainsaws, and blowers for trail upkeep.
  • Assist with bike cleaning and maintenance, including washing bikes, adjusting gears, and preparing them for the next tour.
  • Respond to on-tour emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
  • Conduct trail maintenance as assigned, including clearing debris, trimming vegetation, and addressing safety hazards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to ride and operate an e-bike for extended periods in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. up to 75 lbs. and assist guests with e-bike adjustments.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and ride for prolonged periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in hot, humid, or rainy conditions.
  • Comfortable using gas-powered equipment such as weed whackers, chainsaws, and blowers.
  • Ability to: Steer and corner without going off-trail. Shift gears smoothly while maintaining control. Brake safely without skidding or sudden stops. Maintain balance and control while navigating obstacles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to assess and adapt to varying guest skill levels.
  • Customer service experience in a hospitality or tourism-related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in outdoor recreation, tour guiding, or adventure sports.
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian history, culture, and natural environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
