Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Wednesday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; Saturday-Sunday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (days off Monday and Tuesday)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $75 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Monitor and respond quickly to high-volume medical alarms in building 503 to keep patients safe
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions within your RN scope of practice
  • Support the Accountability, Change, and Transformation (ACT) program with compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Work alongside custody staff to maintain a secure yet therapeutic environment
  • Document every patient interaction accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
  • Jump in where needed and adapt to changing patient needs throughout your shift
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or a compact state
  • At least one year of recent RN experience; correctional or mental health nursing experience is a plus
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting
  • Comfortable working in a correctional facility and with diverse patient populations
  • Ability to complete credentialing and background check requirements before start
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid core nursing skills with the ability to prioritize urgent situations
  • Familiarity with medical alarm systems, patient monitoring, and rapid response protocols
  • Knowledge of accurate charting and electronic health records
  • Skill in team collaboration across custody and healthcare disciplines
