This Role is Tailor-Made for You Because:
You have experience working in a multi-channel, highly automated Distribution Center and want to play an increasing role in leading a team to meeting and exceeding service levels while maintaining quality standards and costs expectations. Under the supervision of the department's Supervisor and/or Manager, you will work to support the execution of department priorities, efficient workflows, accurate order fulfillment, compliance with company policies, safety regulations and productivity goals while rolling up your sleeves to help get the job done. Because you are detail-oriented and proactive, you will play a key role in supporting key operational functions and be able to problem solve and solution for day-to-day needs. As an Assistant Supervisor, you will also be an important leader within the team and will be able to support the day-to-day needs, while escalating performance management and/or employee relations concerns to your Supervisor/Manager. Assigned team size is generally 8 or more associates.

Operational Oversight & Workflow Management
  • Support the development and execution of daily operational plans aligned with service level agreements (SLAs) and business goals
  • Ensure adherence to expressed plans related to labor scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow coordination to meet productivity and efficiency targets
  • Understand key performance indicators (KPIs) such as accuracy, throughput, and efficiency, identifying and escalating concerns as needed
  • Support the completion of assigned department tasks to optimize efficiency and accuracy; organizing and prioritizing tasks appropriately
  • Work closely with department leadership to develop and implement strategies for improving workflow efficiency.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills and department guidelines to ensure identified challenges are addressed promptly to prevent workflow disruptions, escalating as needed. This includes partnering with other partners such as IT teams to resolve system or equipment issues
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and safety regulations
  • Promote and maintain a 5S culture by supporting and championing organizational and process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor warehouse conditions to identify potential hazards, such as blocked pathways, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe practices.
  • Provide input and supporting information for the preparation of reports on operational metrics, challenges, and improvement strategies
  • Provide end-of-shift reports summarizing key accomplishments, challenges, and areas for improvement
  • Contribute to effective communication within team and with cross-functional partners, partnering across departments as needed to ensure smooth workflow transitions and proactively addressing operational flow challenges

Team Support & Leadership
  • Assist the department Supervisor/Manager in managing and guiding team members, providing both direct and indirect leadership
  • Offer performance feedback, alongside the Supervisor/Manager, to enhance associate development
  • Maintain and communicate daily rosters to ensure proper staffing and workload distribution
  • Adjust staffing levels and workflow priorities based on operational needs
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to motivate high performance from team members
  • Ensure associates follow company safety policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Enforce proper equipment usage and compliance with warehouse safety standards.
  • Train, retrain and crosstrain team members ensuring they understand operational procedures and expectations
  • Assist in implementing process improvements to improve operational efficiency and team performance

As an Assistant Supervisor, you may be asked to handle other duties and rotate to other departments as assigned in order to contribute to the overall success of the Distribution Center.
Additional Department Specific Requirements:
  • Inventory Control: Assist in supervising and actively support the achievement of inventory accuracy through cycle counting, auditing, and reconciliation, while minimizing discrepancies and supporting efficient operations
  • Packing: Assist in supervising and actively support the accurate and efficient preparation of customer and retail/wholesale orders for shipment, including the verification of items, packaging items according to brand standards, quality control, and timely shipment preparation
  • Picking & Replenishment: Assist in supervising and actively support efficient and accurate order picking, inventory restocking, and workflow optimization to meet fulfillment targets
  • Receiving: Assist in supervising and actively support timely and accurate unloading, inspection, and put-away of inbound inventory while maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Returns: Assist in supervising and actively support the efficient processing of returned merchandise, including inspection, restocking, and disposition decisions, to support inventory integrity and customer satisfaction
  • Shipping: Assist in supervising and actively support on-time and accurate order dispatch, proper carrier coordination, and compliance with shipping requirements to meet delivery expectations

To Land This Role:
  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D or equivalent relevant work experience required
  • 2+ years of related experience working in a distribution environment; 6 months+ of leadership experience
  • Prior experience with automation within a distribution environment and experience in a high volume/high value distribution center is a plus
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to identify challenges and problem-solving accordingly in an effective way
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize competing demands effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact effectively with team members at all levels including management, and maintain professionalism at all times
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have English proficiency (speaking and understanding)
  • Able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
  • Able to actively walk the warehouse floor; and stand for extended periods up to 12 hours
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays
