Job description

About the Role

This is a founding engineer role at a seed-stage construction technology startup using AI and computer vision to automate blueprint analysis, material takeoffs, and cost estimation. You will be one of the earliest technical hires, working directly on the core product and shaping how the engineering team grows. The work has real-world impact, helping make housing and infrastructure development faster and more affordable.

What You'll Do
  • Build intuitive, polished UIs that surface computer vision and AI model outputs to end users.

  • Tackle complex geometry problems, streaming systems, and sophisticated user interactions.

  • Ship prototypes quickly and iterate continuously based on direct user feedback.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong React and TypeScript skills, paired with solid full-stack engineering ability.

  • Python proficiency and comfort solving open-ended, math-oriented problems.

  • Demonstrated experience taking a product from 0 to 1, ideally with real users or paying customers.

  • Solid computer science fundamentals, or an exceptional project portfolio showing equivalent ability.

  • Experience as a founder, founding engineer, or very early startup employee is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with construction, real estate, or PDF workflows is a bonus.

  • Proficiency with Tailwind CSS is a nice-to-have.

  • Empathetic, honest communicator who thrives in a small, fast-moving team.

  • Genuine motivation to make housing more accessible, not just to maximize compensation.

  • Exceptional recent graduates with strong fundamentals and hustle are welcome to apply.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not available.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $100,000 to $180,000 USD annually. Equity is expected given the founding-team nature of the role. Visa sponsorship is not available.
