The Accounting Manager's purpose is to provide the highest quality service and information to both internal and external customers by maximizing the team's potential to fulfill its responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
The Accounting Manager must exemplify the core values of Others First, Wisdom, and Growth. This position will research and answer questions, complete complex projects, and identify opportunities to innovate. This position ensures the daily operations of the accounting team are successfully completed by thoroughly reviewing reports and returns for accuracy, performing quality checks on data and processes, and mentoring and training other team members.
The Accounting Manager will support the Jackson Healthcare Resource Team leaders as well as be the accounting lead on Accounting Information Systems initiatives and complex ad hoc projects.Role and Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Provide leadership to associates through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Interview and select accounting intern.
  • Directs, schedules, and coordinates area functions.
  • Support and provide assistance to associates ensuring accounting controls and policies are well understood and followed.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insightful analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for department leaders detailing expenses, controllable costs, and capital projects.
  • Perform and oversee special studies for management, including ratio and trend analyses, and other comparative examinations.
  • Complete cost analysis for capital improvement projects and other changes.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Manage department leaders' budgeting and forecasting processes to help guide strategic decision-making and ensure financial stability.
  • Assist in developing long and short-run budgeting and operational goals and objectives.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor budgeting and operational plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Internal Controls:
  • Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks.
  • Responsible for month-end complex balance sheet reconciliations for Prepaid Assets and Accrued Liabilities.
  • Audit Management:
  • Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit process with external auditors, including the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Address any audit findings and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Company and external auditors.
  • Financial Systems and Processes:
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve data accuracy and integrity.
  • Evaluate established systems and process ensuring all are in accordance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
  • Communication and Decision Support:
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives, providing financial insights and analysis to support informed decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and committees as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all Company associates.
  • Ensure that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA, and/or CMA designation desired or candidate for the same.
  • Management experience of people (direct or indirect) or projects is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of financial accounting and budgeting experience required.

Required Knowledge

  • Advance knowledge of advanced financial accounting practices and procedures.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with complex budgeting, costing, pricing, and forecasting practices and procedures.
  • Familiar with and understands related automated accounting applications, auditing, and data processing functions.

Skills/Abilities

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate projects with multiple individuals and departments.
  • Well organized.
  • Able to use computer and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions and ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables.
  • Ability to perform basic statistical calculations including frequency distributions, reliability and validity of tests, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory and factor analysis.
