What are Behavior Technician RBTs?

Behavior Technician RBTs, or Registered Behavior Technicians, are paraprofessionals who work under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to implement behavior intervention plans, often for individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. Their primary role is to provide direct therapy using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to help clients learn new skills and reduce problem behaviors. RBTs are required to complete specific training, pass a competency assessment, and maintain their certification through ongoing supervision and continuing education.

Building rapport with clients and maintaining open communication with families and team members are also vital strategies for overcoming obstacles and ensuring effective therapy sessions.
