Overview

Learn Academy is looking for a Substitute Teacher for our location in Fresno. The rate is $29.28 p/h.

Learn Academy, is a certified K -12 Private Day School approved by the California Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for the following disability categories: Autism (A), Emotional Disability (ED), Mild Intellectual Disability (MIID), Moderate Intellectual Disability (MOID), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Speech-Language Impairment (SLI).

Learn Academy utilizes a highly-structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students Academic, Social/Emotional Problem-Solving and Strategies. All DCS teachers and support staff are trained in a unique methodology that assists students with maintaining Positive Choice-Making. We are a tight-knit team that values colleagues who exhibit collaboration, integrity and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students who struggle to be successful, and who share a passion to help children and their families.

Responsibilities

Substitute Teachers will be a part of a team that works with students with emotional and behavioral needs providing therapeutic interventions, de-escalation, pre-crisis and post crisis interventions as well as instruction in the event our regularly scheduled educator is unable to attend work. This position is supported by one to three behavior technicians who assist the classroom teacher with classroom management, behavior documentation and reporting, implementing social/emotional/behavioral interventions as well as participating in teaching and instruction. Teachers are responsible for curriculum and instruction, classroom management, as well as other documentation and maintaining student records if needed.

  • Must have the ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Active and valid Substitute or other Education teaching certificateย  issued by California State Department of Education
  • Experience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students preferred
  • PCMA certified is a plus but not required.
