Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm, with flexibility to meet program needs

A Day in the Life of a Behavior Intervention Specialist:

As a full-time Behavior Intervention Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering impactful behavioral support services to individuals. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering positive changes that enhance their quality of life.

  • Performs initial, semiannual and annual functional behavioral assessments of individuals. Provides written recommendations to corresponding program staff.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises written behavior support plans under the supervision of a Level I Behavior Intervention Specialist. Develops, reviews, and revises behavior support plans with restrictive/intrusive interventions under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or licensed clinical social worker. Helps to ensure the integration, consistency and appropriateness of plans. Trains staff on how to implement the plans.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises written behavior medication monitoring plans. Helps to ensure the integration, consistency and appropriateness of plans, Trains staff on how to implement the plans.
  • Provides training to staff in managing difficult behaviors, and assists with crisis intervention.
  • Serves as a member of an individual's treatment team, providing consultation relative to behavioral support needs of individuals, and participating in team meetings.
  • Provides individual and/or group instruction to individual's supported, and works with staff to enhance the effectiveness of treatment.
  • Provides services at non-traditional business hours.
  • Documents individual's progress/regress and insures completion of all record keeping tasks as per agency/program policies and procedures.

Who We Are Looking For:

BCBA and a Master's degree in behavioral analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by the Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)

OR

A Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, applied psychology, or related human services field or a NYS license in mental health counseling

Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
