Job description

JOB TITLE:                  Dordt Children's Worship Initiative Scripture Reading Team Lead
DEPARTMENT:          Children's Worship Initiative
REPORTS TO:             Co-Director of Children's Worship Initiative
POSITION STATUS:   Student Employment (5-8 hours weekly)
OFFICE HOURS:          Wednesday mornings, 6:30-8:00AM (before school)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
You'll walk alongside a team of middle schoolers as they learn to read Scripture in public worship - mentoring
Sioux Center Christian School students on the Scripture Reading Team as they create Scripture-based liturgies and then serve their school through the reading of Scripture during chapel. This role is part of the Dordt Children's
Worship Initiative's partnership with Sioux Center Christian School to build a student-led chapel team. DCWI is
anchored in the Nurturing Children Through Prayer and Worship national initiative, focused on equipping children's engagement with God in the worship arts and resourcing churches, schools, and families.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP Serve as a faithful and loving example of Christian discipleship in the lives
of children.
STUDENT CHAPEL SCRIPTURE READING TEAM LEAD Mentor a team of 5th-8th graders to read
Scripture in corporate worship in regular chapel services.
o Assist CWI in preparing materials for chapel services.
o Lead students in a weekly rehearsal to read and rehearse their Scripture readings.
o Support students as they lead the whole school in the public reading of Scripture during a monthly
student-led chapel service.
o Attend weekly CWI team meetings to reflect and report on your chapel team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A deep love for Jesus and the Bible!
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to foster a strong team culture among middle school students.
Able to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience working with children is definitely a plus!
