About the Job
 

Background

The WIC Workforce Curriculum developer will play a critical role in the WIC Professional Opportunities for Paraprofessional Staff (POPS) project. Funded by the USDA, POPS is a 5-year project that includes a nation-wide formative assessment of current paraprofessional models in WIC, co-creation of a paraprofessional career pathways, complementary training and support resources using a human-centered design approach, and pilot testing of the developed training in local WIC agencies across Wisconsin and Minnesota. Building on findings from the formative assessment, the present phase of the project focuses on developing a competency-based training program to support paraprofessional roles that provide nutrition services. To promote alignment with the needs of the WIC workforce, the project engages an advisory board composed of WIC State and local agency staff to review and test training materials. Position Summary

The project team is seeking a temporary, training developer for the current phase of the POPS project. The training developer will collaborate with academic researchers, staff, student trainees, and the advisory board to design and build the pilot POPS training program. This role will be responsible for developing the training curriculum and creating corresponding training materials. 
Position Duration: This is a temporary role, with employment lasting through the successful development of the training program, 5-7 months. Flexible work schedule and environment  available to be determined on start date.  
Key Responsibilities

Material Creation (100%)

  • Assists the research team with developing training curriculum for the WIC workforce
  • Utilizes PowerPoint and authoring tools to create engaging, interactive training materials
  • Collaborate with research team and project advisory board to develop WIC workforce training materials
  • Actively participates in regular meetings to coordinate tasks with the research team
  • Assists in reviewing, consolidating, and applying revisions and feedback on the training curriculum and corresponding training materials
  • Demonstrates advanced proofreading skills and attention to detail for review of materials before assisting in finalizing training materials and support resources
Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus 2 yrs of relevant experience or combo of education and relevant work experience to equal at least 6 yrs. Specifically: Nutrition expertise (evidenced by associate, bachelors, or masters degree in nutrition or public health nutrition; degree in related field with at least 9 credit hours of nutrition coursework; RDN credential; or NDTR credential) 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and managing documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federally funded programs, health or nutrition-related projects, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with academic or research institutions
  • Experience with grant-based work requirements, such as developing and following work plans and protocols, reporting requirements and federal financial policies and procedures
  • Experience assisting in the development of training or educational materials

Pay Range: $26.50 - $29.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
