About the Opportunity


We are seeking a skilled Motor Winding Technician to join a growing industrial repair operation in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is ideal for technicians with experience rebuilding AC, DC, and medium-voltage motors who take pride in precision craftsmanship and quality workmanship.


In this role, you'll be responsible for winding, testing, insulating, and rebuilding critical motor components that support essential industrial operations. What You'll Do


● Perform teardown, inspection, and evaluation of failed AC, DC, and medium-voltage motors

● Remove, label, and document coils, insulation systems, and electrical components

● Manufacture, form, and install replacement coils according to winding specifications

● Measure, cut, and install slot paper, phase insulation, and related materials

● Install coils into stators and armatures while maintaining insulation integrity and proper fit

● Tie, lace, connect, solder, and insulate coil leads using industry-standard methods

● Perform surge testing, resistance testing, and other electrical quality checks

● Operate vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) systems and execute complete VPI cycles

● Prepare motors for varnish application and operate bake ovens safely and effectively

● Assist with mechanical assembly including bearings, endbells, and related motor components

● Maintain accurate documentation of testing results, VPI cycles, and quality inspections

● Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment


What You Bring


● High school diploma or GED required

● Technical training, vocational education, or EET coursework preferred

● 1-3+ years of motor winding experience

● Experience working with AC motors, DC motors, and medium-voltage equipment

● Ability to read and interpret winding data sheets, specifications, and technical drawings

● Knowledge of electrical principles, motor components, and insulation systems

● Experience performing coil manufacturing, installation, and insulation work

● Proficiency with surge testing and resistance testing procedures

● Experience operating winding machines, bake ovens, and VPI systems

● Ability to use precision measuring equipment including micrometers and calipers

● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

● Ability to work independently in an industrial repair environment


Physical Requirements


● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

● Frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling of motor components

● Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to heat, noise, and varnish fumes while utilizing proper PPE

Travel Requirements

● Minimal travel required

● Occasional training or support travel may be required

● Company support provided for approved business travel
