Employment Type: Full time

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Be part of a patient center medical practice as a medical assistant in New York City.
  • Act as a liaison with patients, referrals, and health care professionals.
  • Provide administrative support to physicians, patients, and staff.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets, escorts patients to exam rooms and perform vital medical history interviews on patients.
  • Measures patient’s vital sign and perform physical examination if needed, records all information into patient's medical chart.
  • Perform procedures, diagnostic testing, phlebotomy, and medication administration under the supervision of a physician as needed.
  • Follow up on patient management and update medical chart before and after each encounter.
  • Aid all administration responsibilities for the patient (form filling, manage medical records and referrals, obtain preauthorization with insurance, update diagnostic results, medication refill, sending specimens to labs, etc.…).
  • Manage inquiries and messages in patient portal. Update patient on laboratory results.
  • Prepares examination room before and after each patient encounter and keeps examination rooms clean, organized and stocked with medical supplies.
  • Follows all the policies, procedures, guidelines of OSHA and HIPAA Laws and safeguards.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training/testing.
  • Covering other medical offices within the network.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years' experience in a hospital or physician practice setting preferred.
  • Certification as a medical assistant or equivalent medical training and experience.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Must be able to multi-task, show attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills, great customer service, efficient scheduling, active listening skills, strong ethic, and organizational skills.
  • Advance computer skills with experience in EMR.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
