Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The General Manager must work well under pressure, have previous restaurant management experience, and be excited to join a team to not only maintain our standards of quality and guest satisfaction but will propel our brand and our business to new heights. This position is accountable for the store's performance and requires strong organizational and communication skills to drive our commitment to excellent guest service and high-quality dining. Overall responsibilities include team leadership and motivation, financial management, guest satisfaction, overseeing hiring and scheduling staff, tracking cash flow and setting sales goals for their team.

WORK HOURS

This role is required to work a minimum of 40-50 hours per week. They must be able to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs. Scheduling can include nights and weekends depending on events and functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Will monitor restaurant production on a daily and on-going basis through close consultation with the Director of Restaurant Operations
  • Monitor labor, food, liquor, wine, beer and all other costs involved with the daily operation of the restaurant.
  • Will maintain the highest standards of food and drink quality and freshness.
  • Will maintain the highest standards of service.
  • Will delegate job responsibilities to staff, as required.
  • Will address staff disciplinary actions as required.
  • Will maintain systems of ordering restaurant goods
  • Will maintain a par system to take into effect bar/restaurant levels of business.
  • Will maintain inventory control which includes periodic monthly physical inventory.
  • Will maintain stated budgetary goals for food, liquor, wine, beer and labor costs and other expenses.
  • Will maintain inventory levels on ALL restaurant glassware pertaining to drink consumption, whether alcoholic or non alcoholic, through periodic ordering from suppliers.
  • Will order and maintain par levels on all non alcoholic beverages.
  • Will maintain consistent and uniform quality levels.
  • Will be thoroughly familiar with menu items including proper pronunciations of ingredients, preparation and condiments required.

  • Will assist other staff members with their duties as necessary.
  • Will maintain physical workspace to highest standards of cleanliness, including familiarity with all local, state and federal health codes and laws pertaining to bar area and to bar storage and preparation of drinks.
  • Will assist in liquor\wine\beer buying and sourcing when necessary.
  • Will represent the company to all customers, purveyors, writers and others in a positive manner.
  • Will work staff positions as necessary.
  • Will work double shifts if required and as scheduled.
  • Will open or close the restaurant as required
  • Will attend all scheduled staff meetings as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Hospitality Management/ Culinary Degree (preferred, not mandatory)
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Restaurant/General Manager in a high volume, full service, upscale restaurant
  • Must possess solid financial acumen and experience with P&Ls
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment while always maintaining a sense of humor and appearing calm.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passionate about creating memorable dining experiences and exceeding guest expectations.
  • Resilient in stressful situations and always able to handle last minute requests.
  • Passion for service standards, clean work habits with a great attention to detail
  • A natural leader that is also a team player and has a positive influence on employee morale
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, liquor cost, wine cost, beer cost, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Previous experience of at least 3 years leading a full-service, high-quality restaurant.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in all aspects of drink preparation and bar menu development.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in all aspects of staff relations and training.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in all aspects of budget development and ability to meet financial goals.
  • Able to be focused and decisive in fast-paced situations.
  • Good physical condition in order to lift moderate weights, move quickly and remain on feet for prolonged long periods of time.
  • A sincere desire to provide utmost quality service.
  • Must be keen with attention to detail.
  • Well groomed appearance.
  • Possess a valid Health Department Food Handlers Card
