Job description

Heart of America Beverage is seeking energetic candidates to join our delivery team as a local delivery driver in Joplin. If you enjoy a fast paced and dynamic environment, this job may be for you. The most fun part? We sell beer for a living! Our culture is made up of people who are passionate about beer and passionate about fun. We work hard and we have a lot of laughs along the way. This position works four days per week and is home every night.  The delivery routes typically have a driver helper assisting daily.  The total starting compensation for delivery driver is $50,000 with salary, commission and bonus structure.  

Drives assigned company vehicle over established routes to deliver products, render merchandising services, collect payment from customers while adhering to all Company policies and procedures as outlined in the on-boarding procedures and checklist. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Delivery Driver:

  • Performing Pre-trip and Post-trip DOT required inspection with proper documentation.
  • Maintaining required DOT time logs
  • Operating assigned delivery vehicle(s) in a safe, legal manner and complies with all Federal, State and Local regulations and Company on-boarding procedures and policies.
  • Possessing the ability to correctly use a two wheeled dolly, cart or pallet jack for bringing product into assigned accounts; verifying correctness of order and collecting payment from the customer along with a signed invoice.
  • Providing courteous customer service
  • Performing shelf replenishment, and display building
  • Collecting current and past due payments as required
  • Interacting with Sales Representative(s) to assure optimum customer service is provided.
  • Listening to and resolving service complaints.
  • Maintaining "zero-tolerance" back stock rotation and picks up out-of-date product or moves close dated product as directed.
  • Maintains the appearance/cleanliness of their assigned vehicle inside and outside
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications for the Delivery Driver

  • This position requires a current Class A Commercial Drivers License before hire. All drivers for Heart of America Beverage are required to have a Class A Commercial Drivers License.
  • Drivers must be able to pass a DOT physical, pass a DOT Drug test, a motor vehicle records check, and a previous employment DOT records check. Potential drivers are now also subject to a CSA background check to be eligible
  • 0-3 years of previous commercial driving experience is preferred but not required
  • This position requires the employee to be detail oriented, quality focused, able to take direction, be self-motivated, and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • The Delivery Driver must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment; and the flexibility to work long hours beyond standard requirements as needed.
  • Drivers must be able to pass a DOT physical, pass a DOT Drug test, a motor vehicle records check, and a previous employment DOT records check. Potential drivers are now also subject to a CSA background check to be eligible.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods while driving; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crawl, or crouch; lift above head; lift heavy items, up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and frequently up to a 185-pound keg; regularly push/pull 250 pounds with the assistance of a two-wheel dolly, product cart or other mobile equipment; tolerate going back and forth from hot to cold temperatures; climb up and down from cab and trailer of truck; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The Delivery Driver must be at least 21 years of age to work with alcohol.
