Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Position Type: Staff, Exempt, Part-time

Typical Hours: On Call

Reports to: Division Head

Pay Range: $240 for full day; $120 for half-day;

Incentives for cumulative days served:

  • 25 cumulative days in one year = $500
  • 50 cumulative days in one year = $1000
  • 75 cumulative days in one year = $1500
  • 100 cumulative days in one year = $2000

Your Role.

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our Substitute Teacher team! This individual supports the mission of Bear Creek through serving the students and teachers of Bear Creek.


As a member of The Bear Creek School, you belong to a vibrant preschool - grade 12 community fully committed to the mission of our school: to provide a high-quality, Christian liberal arts education in a nurturing environment that will enable each student to become the individual God intends.


We are seeking an individual who...

  • Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines.
  • Presents individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods.
  • Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
  • Discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
  • Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
  • Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Familiarity or experience with the classical Christian education model preferred.
  • Currently holds CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorship is available for this position.

You must meet the following physical requirements.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
