Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.
To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures-and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

As a Manager - BCG Vantage on our Client Focus path within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will work in a growing global team, delivering value to clients via individual expertise and/or institutionalized BCG Vantage assets (products, tools, data, workshops, frameworks, surveys, domain-specific data and related expertise, etc.). You will contribute on cases and proposals by contributing relevant analysis and insights and help case teams create strong impact for the client. While contributing to client cases, workshops and proposals, occasional travel to serve clients onsite during staffing assignments is expected to understand client requirements, and design / develop solutions.

You will support commercialization efforts for the topic/sector working, in conjunction with business leaders, through contributing analysis and insights to proposals, client workshops and marketing materials. Additionally, as a Manager - BCG Vantage, you will contribute to developing intellectual property & assets for the business and assist in onboarding and training junior colleagues based on your topic/sector expertise.

In this role, you will contribute to work at the interface of BCG's Energy and Climate & Sustainability Practice Areas. The focus may include topics related to the energy transition, geothermal, subsurface, CO2 storage, and low-carbon solutions.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

  • Translating deep subsurface and geothermal expertise into strategic insight - structuring complex technical topics into crisp, client-ready narratives that resonate with both technical experts and business decision-makers
  • Advising clients on geothermal energy strategy, including site selection and resource favorability assessment, technology choice, project economics, and permitting pathways
  • Leading workstreams with strong ownership, quality control, prioritization, and ability to manage multiple case and proposal priorities
  • Bringing a commercially curious mindset - not just answering the technical question, but understanding the client's business context and shaping insight that drives real decisions
  • Communicating complex technical topics clearly and credibly to senior clients, BCG case teams, technical experts, and non-technical stakeholders

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • 3+ years of consulting experience in energy, climate, low-carbon solutions, geothermal, CCUS, or subsurface topics; strategy consulting experience preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 4+ years of relevant industry experience required; 6-10+ years preferred in geothermal, CO storage, or subsurface project development
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred) in related field (e.g., reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, geoscience, geology)
  • Proven track record of working on geothermal and/or CO storage projects
  • Experience advising on or within an energy transition context is a strong plus

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of geothermal energy systems for both power generation and direct-use applications
  • Awareness of the regulatory, permitting, and policy landscape for geothermal across key markets
  • Understanding of geothermal project economics
  • Strong understanding of CO geological storage
  • Knowledge of CO injection operations and understanding of leakage risk assessment, site characterization requirements, and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) frameworks for storage sites, including long-term stewardship obligations
  • Familiarity with CO-EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery)

Who You'll Work With

As a Manager - BCG Vantage on our Client Focus path, you will work face to face with clients and with BCG Project Leaders, Associates and Consultants. In the period between cases, you will collaborate with global topic leads and colleagues across BCG to bring expertise and capabilities to the service of our internal and external clients. Our team is made up a diverse pool of BCG Vantage positions that allow us to pursue exciting, innovative BCG Vantage careers.
