What does a bcba insurance do?

A typical day in a BCBA Insurance role involves reviewing and submitting insurance authorizations, ensuring all documentation meets payer requirements, and collaborating with clinical staff to verify that care plans align with insurance guidelines. You will often communicate with insurance representatives to resolve any issues with approvals or reimbursements, and keep up-to-date with policy changes that impact coverage for ABA services. The role requires balancing administrative responsibilities with client advocacy, making multitasking and organization critical. Working closely with other BCBAs, support staff, and billing teams is also common to streamline processes and deliver high-quality client care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the bcba insurance position?

To thrive in a BCBA Insurance role, professionals need a solid understanding of behavioral health insurance processes, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and healthcare documentation, typically supported by BCBA certification and experience working with insurance claims. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, insurance management software, and compliance regulations is also important. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help facilitate coordination between clients, providers, and insurance companies. These competencies ensure accurate claims submissions, efficient case management, and optimal support for individuals seeking ABA services.

BCBA (Behavior Respite Program) - ABA SHINE Location: In person Richmond area Compensation: $87-$95/hr (PT) + mileage, CEU stipend. Receive a Bonus of $1000 after the first 6 months of employment Why ABA SHINE ABA SHINE is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our growing clinical team. We provide a diverse range of behavior analytic services to individuals across the lifespan through partnerships with the Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB), (CCHP), and other funding sources. Our services include comprehensive ABA, focus ABA, Behavior Intervention Services (BIS), Behavior Respite, caregiver coaching, and parent-led intervention models (no CCS clients). As a BCBA at ABA SHINE, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of programs, populations, and service delivery models, creating a dynamic and rewarding professional experience. Depending on your assigned caseload, you may provide early intervention services for young children, support individuals with complex behavioral needs in home and community settings, supervise Behavior Respite programs, conduct behavioral assessments, develop behavior support plans, train caregivers, and mentor Behavior Technicians (BTs), Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and mid-level supervisors. Our clinical model emphasizes a collaborative three-tiered service approach whenever appropriate, allowing BCBAs to lead multidisciplinary teams while providing high-quality supervision, caregiver coaching, and evidence-based interventions. You will partner closely with families to build meaningful skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote long-term independence through individualized treatment plans. At ABA SHINE, no two days are the same. Our wide variety of programs provides exceptional opportunities to expand your clinical expertise, gain experience with diverse client populations, strengthen leadership skills, and collaborate with an experienced team of BCBAs and developing clinicians. Whether your passion is early intervention, parent training, behavior consultation, or supporting individuals with significant behavioral challenges, ABA SHINE offers an environment where you can continue to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact on the lives of the families we serve. We focus on early intervention using ABA principles to teach all 5 verbal operant i, and our Behavior Respite program is also staffed by trained RBTs/BTs and supervised by BCBAs and mid-level, who focus on safety, stability, and family quality of life-with lighter documentation than insurance-funded ABA and predictable, family-friendly schedules What BCBAs love here
  • Manageable caseloads (primarily respite cases; or parent training sessions-limited treatment hours)
  • Hybrid flexibility (remote report writing/admin; field for trainings/overlaps)
  • Paid drive time + mileage and paid documentation
  • CEU stipend ($500 (PT)-$1,000 (FT)) + paid BACB fees
  • Clinical autonomy & strong ops support (scheduling, authorizations, payroll handled centrally)
  • Growth paths: Lead BCBA, training lead, QA, or program development
  • Work you can feel good about: stabilize homes, prevent placement disruptions, and mentor early-career techs
The Role You will oversee Behavior Technicians providing either early intervention Behavior or behavior Respite services for children and young adults served by the Regional Center. You'll ensure services are safe, ethical, and consistent with BACB supervision standards and California Title 17/Regional Center requirements. (The early intervention is an intensive program, but the Behavior Respite is support-focused-not an intensive treatment.) Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk/safety and support needs reviews; collaborate on practical in-home strategies (routines, transitions, community outings).
  • Train, coach, and supervise RBTs/BTs (meets/ exceeds BACB ongoing supervision requirements; includes overlaps and debriefs).
  • QA & compliance: brief progress summaries, incident review, and Title 17/Regional Center-aligned documentation.
  • Partner with caregivers, case managers, and schools to keep services consistent and sustainable.
  • Champion ethical, culturally responsive practice and client dignity.
What You'll Avoid Here
  • Oversized, treatment-heavy caseloads
  • Endless insurance authorizations & lengthy treatment reports
  • Unpaid admin time
  • Progress notes are needed yearly.
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive pay (hourly or salaried) with bonus eligibility
  • Medical, dental, vision (FT); 401(k) match (FT)
  • CEU stipend + paid BACB dues; internal CE trainings
  • Mileage + paid drive time; company tablet & software
  • Flexible PT tracks (10-20 hrs/wk) or FT (30 - 32 hrs/wk)
  • Bilingual pay differential
How We Support You
  • Dedicated scheduling & ops team so you can focus on clinical work (not chasing calendars)
  • Clear report templates (safety plan, shift notes, incident quick forms)
  • Monthly peer consult with fellow BCBAs; rapid-response leadership
  • Cases are all staffed and client are provided a full schedule to fulfill their authorization.
