Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
Profession: Registered Nurse

Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (mostly days)
Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: Required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Must-Have: Experience with high acuity patient populations, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience preferred.
Description:
The department has 16 beds plus additional procedural beds.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients and 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients.
Common diagnoses include cardiovascular surgery, traumas, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical patients needing intensive care.
Experience is required with the patient populations served.
All nurses care for POD 1 heart patients, specifically trained to handle immediate post-operative heart patients on a 1:1 basis.
RNs are required to titrate drips, including but not limited to Epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vaso, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone.
A charge nurse is available on every shift, with the ability to take patients based on census and need.
There is a nursing house supervisor available 24/7.
Respiratory therapy is present in the ICU 24/7.
RNs are responsible for monitoring their own patients' telemetry and documenting rhythm strips.
Shifts are from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, and staff self-schedule based on needs.
Every other weekend and holiday work is required.
There is a floating requirement if not needed in the SICU or MICU.
No specific scrub color or dress code is enforced, but attire must be clean and professional.
A one-day onboarding system will be provided along with two orientation shifts on the unit.
