East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in automotive battery manufacturing is looking for an Industrical Service Manager at our Ashland, Virginia Warehouse. The Industrial Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the personnel and operations of the Industrial Field Service Department. Ensures that customer service needs are met while adhering to expected deadlines and approved budgets. The Service Manager is committed to the company's success while upholding East Penn Company policies and culture.
Estimated salary range: $70,000 - $72,000
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
Responsibilities
Responsible for Industrial Field Service Department management/staffing, and general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of warehouse equipment and delivery vehicles. Works in conjunction with the Branch Manager and all other branch employees to achieve a growing, profitable, and operationally efficient Service Department.
  • Manage, direct, and treat all employees in a professional manner in order to produce a positive and compatible work environment for all Service Tech personnel.
  • Communicate and work with maintenance managers, maintenance mechanics, electric truck mechanics, electricians, contractors, and East Penn Mfg.'s salespeople to deal with customer complaints and broken down equipment.
  • Travel to customer locations to evaluate batteries, battery charging, and battery changing equipment.
  • Able to make on site repairs of batteries and chargers.
  • Installations of battery handling/battery charger equipment.
  • Able to create and maintain documents explaining customer's fleet by type, amp hour, repairs, recommendations, pricing service work for quotes, billing and repairs.
  • Coordinating service calls by territory and performing a follow up to customers on service calls.
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory for the Industrial Service Department (shipping of parts to customers/agents).
  • Submitting maintenance agreements to customers (blanket purchase orders/periodic preventive maintenance contracts).
  • Quoting battery handling/battery charger equipment installations.
  • Interviewing applicants for possible service positions.
  • Possesses the responsibility and authority to participate in the review of drawings and review/approval of designs.
  • As required, the Industrial Service Manager possesses the authority and responsibility to approve contracts.
  • Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices of all Industrial Service Department staff.
  • Requires some overnight travel.
  • Ideal candidate currently resides in the Greater Ashland, Virginia area.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

This position requires strict adherence to information security protocols when handling sensitive and confidential data. Employees must safeguard all personal, financial, and proprietary information in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, ensuring data integrity and privacy at all times.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Strong mechanical ability and electrical background.
  • AC/DC preferred with basic knowledge of 240V three phase and 480V three phase.
  • Basic lead-acid battery knowledge.
  • Ability to read schematics, control circuits, and basic electronics.
  • Ability to take voltage and gravity readings, use a multi-meter, welding, and soldering.
  • Knowledge of forklifts and pallet jacks.
