Bates information

What is a Bates?

In a professional context, 'Bates' typically refers to Bates numbering, a method of indexing legal, business, or medical documents for easy identification and retrieval. It is widely used in law firms and courts where large volumes of documents need to be organized, especially during litigation. Bates numbering involves assigning a unique, sequential identifier (often a number or combination of letters and numbers) to each page in a set of documents. This system helps ensure that all parties are referencing the same page during legal proceedings, improving accuracy and efficiency.
