Material Handler Floater/Swing Role (1st Shift, Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Valparaiso, IN

Shift: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (Some overtime and occasional weekends may be required)

Type: Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview:

We are looking for a dependable and adaptable Material Handler to join our team in a dynamic Floater/Swing position. This hands-on role supports multiple departments including Shipping & Receiving, Manufacturing, and Maintenance and offers excellent opportunities for cross-training and long-term growth. The right candidate is a team player, mechanically inclined, and ready to work in a fast-paced environment. Temporary time would be a probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a backup to Shipping & Receiving Leads: assist with packaging, labeling, shipping, and receiving materials
  • Support manufacturing operations by learning and performing chemical blending, container filling, and batching processes
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training available if not certified)
  • Assist maintenance team with general tasks such as pump repair, basic piping, and light electrical troubleshooting
  • Safely lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
  • Follow all safety procedures and standard operating protocols
  • Flex between departments based on daily operational needs

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to be trained and work across multiple departments
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning maintenance-related skills
  • Forklift experience preferred (certification not required)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check
  • Steel-toe boots required (reimbursement available after permanent hire)
  • Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment
