Batch Processing Analyst information

Can I become a batch processing analyst without experience?

Becoming a batch processing analyst typically requires some knowledge of data processing, scripting, and related tools, but entry-level positions may be available for candidates with relevant skills or certifications. Gaining experience through training, internships, or learning platforms can improve chances of entering the field without prior professional experience.

Is batch processing still relevant?

Batch processing analysts focus on automating and managing large data jobs that run at scheduled times, and it remains relevant in industries like finance, healthcare, and data warehousing. While real-time processing is growing, batch processing is still essential for handling large volumes of data efficiently and cost-effectively, especially with tools like Hadoop and Apache Spark. Skills in scripting, data management, and understanding of processing environments are valuable for this role.

What is a batch processing analyst job?

A batch processing analyst is responsible for managing and monitoring large volumes of data processed in batches, often using specialized software and scripting tools. They ensure data accuracy, optimize processing efficiency, and troubleshoot issues in scheduled data workflows, typically working in environments that require attention to detail and technical skills.

Job description

Interview Process: 30-minute MS Teams interview + 2nd round in-person panel (1–1.5 hours)

Role Overview Wells Fargo is seeking a highly technical contractor to join the Market & Counterparty Regulatory Reporting team. The role supports accurate, timely, regulator-aligned reporting (e.g., FR Y-14Q, CCAR). It combines risk subject matter expertise with technology delivery, focusing on modernizing reporting infrastructure, improving efficiency, and reducing regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Process Analysis & SME Partnership
    • Partner with Market Risk and Counterparty Risk SMEs to understand end-to-end reporting workflows.
    • Document current-state processes, controls, and data dependencies.
    • Identify manual touchpoints, reconciliation gaps, data lineage issues, and opportunities for standardization.
  2. Automation & Solution Design
    • Develop automation proposals aligned with enterprise technology strategy.
    • Translate business processes into scalable technical designs (data pipelines, aggregation logic, reporting layers).
    • Migrate legacy SQL processes to modern frameworks (e.g., Java-based ETL).
    • Ensure solutions meet regulatory accuracy, auditability, and performance requirements.
  3. Requirements & Delivery Management
    • Capture detailed requirements in Jira (epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria).
    • Partner with developers to refine backlog items and support testing/validation.
    • Drive end-to-end delivery lifecycle (Design → Build → Test → Deploy).
  4. Data & Technology Engineering Oversight
    • Work with large-scale relational datasets, risk aggregation frameworks, and regulatory reporting tables.
    • Ensure data integrity, transformation logic accuracy, and performance optimization.
  5. Reporting & Visualization Enablement
    • Use Power BI and Tableau to reduce manual reporting and enable self-service analytics.
    • Improve transparency into risk metrics and reporting outputs.
  6. Emerging Technology & AI Adoption
    • Evaluate AI/GenAI copilots for documentation, reconciliation, anomaly detection.
    • Explore advanced analytics platforms (Fabric-like ecosystems, semantic layers).
    • Ensure alignment with governance and risk standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Advanced SQL (complex queries, stored procedures, performance optimization).
    • Java (enterprise applications, batch processing frameworks such as Spring Boot/Spring Batch).
    • Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL, and scalable processing frameworks.
  • Regulatory & Domain Experience:
    • Market Risk or Counterparty Risk environments.
    • Regulatory reporting (FR Y-14Q, CCAR, Basel) preferred.
    • Familiarity with stress testing, risk aggregation, and reporting controls.
  • Delivery & Collaboration:
    • Experience writing detailed requirements in Jira.
    • Agile/hybrid delivery environments.
    • Ability to translate SME discussions into technical solutions and partner across risk, data, and technology teams.
