Job Title: Adjunct Faculty of Bassoon

Reporting Relationship: Chair, Division of Music & Theatre

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Music-IWUM, 

Campus Location: Marion, Indiana; Onsite

Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.
Seeking faculty for Bassoon studio instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university's learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Master's degree in music preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience

  • Demonstrated talent and accomplishment in relevant playing and/or teaching.
  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, organization skills to facilitate management of student work.
  • Ability to communicate with and teach students at all levels of musicianship.
