Description
Are you looking for a fulfilling job that allows you to make a positive impact on your community? If so, we have great opportunities for you to support your local Parks & Recreation department.
The City of Reno is currently accepting applications for various Athletics part-time positions. We have many positions available that cater to different interests and skills. Salaries and hours vary by position and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Read through the job descriptions and supplemental information below for the details regarding each position. If you are looking to work in a fun atmosphere with great co-workers, the City of Reno will be that place!
Available Positions:
  • Fields/Gym Coordinator ($15-16.50/hour) (Approximately April-October)
  • Field Prep Staff ($16.75-$18.75/hour) (Approximately April-October)
  • Umpire ($23-$25/hour) (Approximately April-October)
Positions will remain open until filled. You are encouraged to apply early.
Examples of Essential Functions
Fields/Gym Coordinator:
  • Sets up and stores equipment.
  • Keep score and record records during athletic events.
  • Input scores into online software system.
  • Monitors participant behavior and attendance.
  • Interprets rules regarding code of conduct.
  • Leads participants in activities and/or may monitor activities led by other staff.
  • Provides first aid supplies to the injured and calls EMS if needed.

Field Prep Staff:
  • Prepares fields for league and/or tournament activities.
  • Cleans up trash at sports fields.
  • Performs general leaf and weed removal.
  • Manages general field maintenance and/or may monitor activities led by other staff.
  • Sets up and stores equipment.
  • Provides first aid supplies to the injured and calls EMS if needed.

Umpire:
  • Officiate various sports leagues and activities (softball, basketball, volleyball, etc.)
  • Interpret rules regarding sports play.
  • Assist in pre-game setup of the assigned field or court.
  • Enforce policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of facility patrons.

Minimum Qualifications
Fields/Gym Coordinator:
  • Age: 18
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • License: Valid driver's license

Field Prep Staff :
  • Age: 18
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • License: Valid driver's license
Umpire:
  • Age: 18
  • Required Certifications: Valid driver's license and valid official's certification for sanctioned sport(s)
  • Experience: Previous officiating experience is preferred.
