Job Title: Video Producer
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Senior Producer, Creative and Content
Collaboration: Daily collaboration with the Video Production team, broader Creative and Content team, Integrated Marketing and Marketing Operations; Regular collaboration with leaders across the organization including Game Operations, Basketball Operations, Ticketing, Corporate Partnerships, Community, Communications, Facilities and HR.
Team Overview: Creative and Content is part of the marketing department, leading brand identity, visual design and art direction for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team is responsible for generating creative ideas and forming campaign concepts to achieve long-term and short-term business objectives, guided by the broader marketing team. The creative and content team designs and delivers creative stories and assets to serve a variety of organization needs prioritizing brand storytelling, fan engagement, broadcast support, corporate partnerships and season ticket members. This team is responsible for producing creative and editorial content daily during the season to tell the basketball story. Creative and Content also serves the broader business, supporting longer-term fan engagement, international growth, basketball operations, community programs, DEIB initiatives and internal employee programming.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
  • Responsible for conceptualizing, planning, shooting, and editing of video
  • Work with other members of the Marketing + Comms Department to generate video content ideas
  • Plan and capture video in a variety of settings, structured shoots, press conference, media sessions and team events
  • Build strong working relationships with players, coaches and team personnel to facilitate access and capture authentic, engaging content.
  • Use strong interpersonal skills, initiative and resourcefulness to get players and talent involved in content, including securing quick reads, interviews, social content and other creative concepts.
  • Edit video utilizing graphics and effects integrating various elements including highlights, archival footage, voice over, sourced music, and interview footage
  • Shoot videos for Instagram/X/Facebook/YouTube/TikTok
  • Set up lighting, audio equipment, and camera, including multi-camera shoots
  • Photography skills are helpful and may be utilized to capture still imagery as needed.
  • Updating and posting video using NBA CMS and for social media properties
  • Keep up with changes in videography including camera technology, related hardware and software
  • Work closely with Marketing + Communications Department to ensure quality, consistency, and creative flow of the overall goals
  • Assist with other special projects, as needed

**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelor's degree (preferred)
Previous experience:
  • A minimum of two to three (2-3) years working in film/ video projection; Sports experience preferred
  • Experience shooting video in a professional sports, entertainment or other fast-paced content environment preferred.
  • Experience working directly with athletes, talent or high-profile personalities preferred.

Technology Capabilities:
  • Highly proficient in After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Media Encoder
  • Must have knowledge of lighting packages, filters, lenses, audio equipment
  • Familiarity with social media platform video standards
  • Strong camera operation and field production skills
  • Photography experience and familiarity with Canon photography equipment is a plus
  • Experience with Canon and Sony cameras preferred

Knowledge, skills, abilities:
  • Strong videography and cinematography skills, with a demonstrated ability to capture compelling content in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with players, coaches, staff and colleagues and earn trust in a professional sports environment.
  • Resourceful and proactive, with the ability to identify content opportunities and make them happen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills - must be able to conceptualize goals and execute projects according to rigorous deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable, while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure
  • A passion for sports and an understanding of other sport cycles and operations
  • Knowledge of basic news gathering techniques with a high attention to detail and accuracy - willing to go the extra mile to validate facts
  • Demonstrated high personal standards for work, presenting the utmost professionalism and highest ethical code
  • Knowledge of basketball (preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and around high-profile talent

Location: El Segundo, and other occasional off-site events
Travel: Less than 25% of the time, varies in-season
The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications. In addition to those factors, we consider the relative pay of our current employees in similar positions when making a final offer.
