Job description

We are one of the largest and fastest-growing private youth sports organizations in the GTA. We create fun, engaging experiences that create lasting memories for the families in our communities! We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Basketball Development Officer to be responsible for delivering high-quality basketball coaching to players of all ages and skill levels. This role requires a combination of on-court coaching and off-court administration tasks.   

Requirements

  • Deliver up to 15 hours of basketball coaching per week to players of various ages and skill levels. 
  • Plan and execute additional training sessions, focusing on skill development, game strategies, and team dynamics. 
  • Provide individualized feedback and guidance to players to help them improve their performance. 
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of players for the basketball program. 
  • Design and implement training programs and development initiatives to enhance player skills and overall team performance. 
  • Collaborate with other coaches and staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective basketball program. 
  • Schedule training sessions, games, and tournaments in coordination with the team's schedule and in collaboration with the Senior Sports Development Officer. 
  • Keep accurate records of player attendance, performance, and progress. 
  • Allocate 5 hours per week to administrative tasks, including scheduling, recruitment, program design, and implementation. 
  • Develop initiatives to increase participation numbers and meet set targets. 
  • Collaborate with the management team to identify opportunities for financial rewards based on meeting participation and performance targets. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a basketball coach, preferably in a development or youth program. 
  • Extensive knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and training methods. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with players of all ages and backgrounds. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance coaching and administrative responsibilities. 
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs tailored to individual and team needs. 
  • Familiarity with recruitment processes and strategies to attract talented players. 
  • Passion for basketball and a commitment to personal and professional development. 
  • Valid coaching certifications and qualification.

Benefits

Compensation: $21-27 per hour
