Are you passionate about basketball and making a positive impact on young athletes? Join our team at the Beaverton YMCA, one of the premier basketball facilities in Oregon, as a Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach for our Fall 2026 Developmental Basketball League.ย 


This is a seasonal position with the potential to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time role.ย 


Season Details

  • Season Dates: Sept 14th - Nov 14th, 2026ย 
  • Age Groups: 10-14 years old
  • Program Type: Developmental / Semi-Competitiveย ย 
  • Team Size: Approximately 10 players per team

Schedule & Commitment


Practices (Sept 14th - Nov 11th, 2026)

  • Mondays & Wednesdaysย 
  • 60-minute sessions at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, or 7:00 PMย 
  • Location: Beaverton YMCA

Games (Sept 26th - Nov 14th, 2026)

  • Saturdays between 8:30 AM - 2:30 PMย 
  • One game per team each week (game times vary)ย 
  • Saturday availability is requiredย 
  • Location: Beaverton YMCAย 

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense)ย 
  • Plan and conduct engaging, development-focused practicesย 
  • Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during gamesย 
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive team environmentย 
  • Monitor player development and provide constructive feedbackย 
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching or youth sports experience preferredย 
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game playย 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skillsย 
  • Ability to motivate and manage groups of young athletesย 
  • Experience in other sports or youth activities is a plusย 
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Must pass YMCA background checkย
