Job description

Overview

The Basic Machine Operator perform medical exams using X-rays on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. The images are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Radiographers prepare patients for the exams, move patients to the correct position, operate the equipment, and use their knowledge and skill to minimize the radiation dose to the patient. 


Responsibilities
  • Serves as a patient care advocate by providing comfort, privacy, and support to the patient and communicates patient’s needs to the provider. 

  • Assists providers with patient examination, procedures, treatment, and x-ray/imaging services. 

  • Identifies patient situations that require the need to access additional resources (ex: appropriate equipment available, unclear provider order, patient safety issues, etc.) 

  • Coordinates and maintains practice schedule. 

  • Informs patients of practice delays, informs practice management as appropriate and monitors patient throughout visit.   

  • Facilitates room turnover and room preparation between patients. 

  • Follows up on test orders and reports results to provider and patient, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies. 

  • Real time documentation of medication administration is appropriately recorded in the patients’ medical record and other databases as required. 

  • Ensures that all members of the healthcare team have current and necessary information to provide safe patient care. 

  • Maintains a patient-centered focus, providing cheerful, efficient, enthusiastic, positive service and ensuring that the phone experience consistently exceeds patient expectations.  Provides the caller with information and explanations of processes in order to ensure understanding and compliance.   

  • Rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and checked for expired items regularly  

  • Safety risks are minimized through compliance with policies, procedures, and protocols (temperature logs, etc.). 

  • Participates in float staff assistance when requested. 


Qualifications
  • Education 

    • Highschool Graduate or equivalent 

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration 

    • Florida Licensure Basic X-Ray Machine Operator required.  Basic Life Support (CPR) required or must be obtained within first month of employment.  Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR). 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  Candidate must have Florida Licensure Basic X-Ray Machine Operator required.
