Job description

About Ruland Manufacturing
Ruland Manufacturing, founded in 1937, is a stable and growing family owned domestic manufacturer of shaft collars, rigid couplings, and motion control couplings. We are a culturally diverse company with 65 employees representing more than ten countries. Ruland has sales and marketing offices in Berlin, Germany and Shanghai, China to support local customers in these markets. Our internal teams consist of operations/manufacturing, marketing, sales, customer service, engineering, and accounting working together to exceed customer expectations. We contribute to our community through our donation of time and parts to the FIRST Robotics Competition. Our vision is to be a 100-year-old successfully run family business.
Qualifications:
Ruland Manufacturing is looking for a CNC Machine Operator to join a diverse manufacturing team that operates Haas, Brother, and RoboDrill CNC mills and lathes in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal team member must be willing to operate three to six machines at a time while performing routine inspections, making minor machine adjustments, and identifying visual product defects. The Machine Operator must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment where results are measured, and performance is rewarded. Due to Ruland's fast growth the Machine Operator must be comfortable adapting to changes in technology, processes, and equipment with limited notice.
The primary responsibilities of the Machine Operator are operating equipment that has already been setup, performing routine inspections, operating manual lathes for secondary operations, making process recommendations and regularly reporting any issues with quality or safety, to the production supervisor. Success of the Machine Operator will be measured by productivity, scrap rate, average lead time, late orders, and compliance with process and safety standards. Team results are measured on a daily basis allowing for a transparent view of performance.
Ruland expects the Machine Operator to perform routine inspections to maintain our industry exceeding quality standards. Inspections are planned either by time on machine or number of parts run and are recorded on SPC sheets. Ruland uses standard monitoring and measuring equipment as well as visual aids to ensure compliance with documented standards. Machine Operators must possess good math skills and the ability to make routine program and mechanical adjustments to maintain quality. When parts produced do not match Ruland standards it is the Machine Operator's responsibility to work with the supervisor to determine if the part can be reworked or scrapped.
Ruland is a high mix, small to medium run-size production environment with schedules that can change daily depending on customer orders and need. The Machine Operator must be flexible and willing to adapt to these changing schedules. Strong organizational skills are required which include keeping a tidy work area, understanding of what parts are running on each machine, having blanks prepped to be run, and attention to detail with inspection sheets.
Ruland puts a high priority on keeping a safe work environment and is compliant with OSHA requirements. Safety recommendations are encouraged by all team members to prevent potential injury. Ruland celebrates safety milestones of no injuries with a company party.
