Job description

About Us

The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club is embracing the climb, committed to building a championship-caliber organization on the field, in the clubhouse, and throughout our business operations. Playing at altitude presents unique competitive challenges and opportunities, and we embrace innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practices to support elite performance.

Rooted in the traditions of Americaโ€™s pastime, we operate with integrity, service, quality, and trust while striving to create an exceptional experience for our players, staff, and fans.

ย

Position Summary

This is an exciting time to join the Colorado Rockies as we continue to evolve how technology, data, and baseball expertise come together across Baseball Operations. Baseball Systems is helping build the tools and infrastructure that will support the organizationโ€™s next chapter, turning data, scouting insights, and organizational knowledge into intuitive applications that help our people evaluate talent, develop players, identify opportunities, and make informed baseball decisions.

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you wonโ€™t simply maintain existing systems, youโ€™ll have the opportunity to help shape what comes next. Youโ€™ll design and build the internal web applications that serve scouting, player development, player acquisition, and research, owning features end to end, from data access and backend services through to the interfaces our staff rely on every day. Youโ€™ll work directly with scouts, analysts, developers, and Baseball Operations leaders to solve meaningful problems, modernize how information is used across the organization, and build technology that can have a lasting impact on how we make baseball decisions.

In addition to hands-on development responsibilities, the Senior Full Stack Developer will provide technical leadership by shaping architecture and design decisions, establishing engineering best practices, improving system reliability, and mentoring other engineers. This is an individual-contributor role with meaningful technical leadership and mentorship scope, not a people-management position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain the internal web applications that serve scouting, player development, player acquisition, and research across Baseball Operations, owning features across the full stack from data to interface.
  • Develop and maintain the backend services, APIs, and data access that power the application, alongside the user interfaces built on top of them.
  • Build intuitive, reliable experiences for technical and non-technical users alike, following the product direction set by Baseball Systems.
  • Integrate a wide range of data sources and formats to aggregate, model, and visualize statistical and qualitative information.
  • Design scalable, maintainable application architecture, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and help guide the evolution of our platform and tooling.
  • Develop resilient, well-tested code and maintain existing applications as requirements change or issues arise.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices related to code quality, documentation, testing, version control, and maintainability.
  • Partner with analysts, developers, and Baseball Operations stakeholders to translate business needs into effective software solutions.
  • Mentor other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, project support, and skill development.

ย

Our Team & Environment

Baseball Systems is the engineering group within Baseball Operations. We build and own the internal platform, working side by side with the analysts, scouts, and researchers who use it. This is a collaborative, on-site role, and youโ€™ll partner daily with the people your work supports, with real ownership over the applications you build and meaningful input into engineering standards, architecture, and technical direction.

Our platform is a modern, typed, full-stack web application built on a major cloud platform. The environment is actively evolving, so youโ€™ll help shape architecture and tooling decisions rather than inherit a fixed, legacy system. Experience with our exact technology stack is not required; we value strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies.

ย

Job Qualifications

  • Five or more years of software development experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated capability.
  • Significant experience building and maintaining production web applications across the full stack, including both backend services and user-facing interfaces.
  • Strong proficiency in a typed language such as TypeScript, with solid command of a modern component-based front-end framework (such as Svelte, React, or Vue) and core front-end fundamentals including HTML and CSS.
  • Experience designing and building backend services and APIs.
  • Advanced SQL and experience working with relational databases and modern ORMs.
  • Experience designing scalable, maintainable application architecture and evaluating technical tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with automated testing across the stack, including unit and end-to-end tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership through architecture and design decisions, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentorship.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

ย

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with baseball data and Baseball Operations workflows, such as scouting, player development, player acquisition, or research.
  • Experience building data-rich user interfaces and statistical visualizations, preferably with baseball data.
  • Experience with a full-stack or server-side rendering framework, such as SvelteKit, Next.js, or similar.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with containerized development using Docker.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related technical field, completion of an immersive technical program, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools responsibly as part of a modern engineering workflow.

ย

Work Schedule & Location

  • This role generally works standard business hours. Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to support critical production issues, releases, or time-sensitive Baseball Operations needs.
  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Denver metropolitan area. Remote work is not available for this role.
  • This position works standard Mountain Time business hours and will travel to Spring Training, affiliate sites, or Club events as needed.

ย

Physical Job Requirements

  • This role operates in a professional office and stadium environment. Occasional exposure to crowd noise, outdoor weather conditions, and extended hours during homestands, events, or special functions may be required.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, including sitting at a desk and attending meetings.
  • Must be able to move throughout office, stadium, and event spaces to access equipment and interact with staff and vendors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by phone, video conference, and in person and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, such as a laptop bag or related office materials.

ย

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 a year. This is a regular-status, full-time, exempt position.
  • As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
  • In addition to the base salary, the Club believes in providing a very competitive and generous compensation and benefits package for its employees. Benefits include but are not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with employer match, generous vacation and holiday program, employee parking, employer-provided game tickets to home games, onsite fitness classes and experiences, employee discounts on merchandise, and so much more! All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and the terms of official plan documents, which may be modified or amended at any given time.

ย

Application Process

  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis but must be received by August 17, 2026. The posting may be removed or extended at any time.
  • The estimated time to complete the recruitment process will be by September 30, 2026.
  • A note for Colorado Rockies employees: Please apply via the internal job board in UKG by following these prompts: MENU > MYSELF > MY COMPANY > VIEW OPPORTUNITIES > select the position > CONSENT > APPLY NOW
    • If you cannot access UKG, please list your most recent Manager as an Employee Reference on your application.
