Job description

Team Overview:

The Hub City Spartanburgers are the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, playing in the South Atlantic League at Fifth Third Park in the heart of downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina. When Minor League Baseball returned to the Hub City in 2025 after a three-decade absence, the Spartanburgers quickly became a gathering place for the Upstate, delivering family-friendly baseball, standout special events, and community experiences that keep fans coming back. From our mascot Chuck to a packed calendar of concerts, festivals, and celebrations, we're building something people are proud to call their own.

About Diamond Baseball Holdings:

Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH) is a one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment company that owns and operates an unmatched roster of Minor League Baseball clubs and premier venues in North America. We bring together baseball, must-see special events and community-driven experiences to create unforgettable moments for millions of fans each year. Across our stadiums and clubs, we're redefining what an amazing night out can be, from memorable outings built around America's pastime to immersive exhibition-style sporting events, innovative promotions, legendary concerts, cultural festivals, family entertainment and other unique experiences that bring people together.

With nearly 50 clubs and venues across the United States and Canada, DBH is home to some of the most beloved brands in MiLB, offering unique opportunities to build a career in sports, entertainment, hospitality and live events. Through our partnership with Major League Baseball, we help shape sponsorship, licensing and commercial opportunities that extend across all 120 MiLB markets, giving our teams the chance to make an impact on both a national and local level.

Whether you're joining one of our clubs or our back-office team, you'll be part of an organization that values creativity, collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional fan experiences while making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

Position Overview:

The Director, Stadium Operations & Special Events will oversee the general maintenance, upkeep and day-to-day operations of Fifth Third Park while providing strategic leadership over the Special Events department that keeps the ballpark active year-round. Stadium Operations provides maintenance, clean-up, general ballpark operations, parking, and clubhouse operations for Fifth Third Park. On the events side, the Director sets the strategy, standards, and budget for concerts, festivals, private rentals, corporate outings, and community experiences, and directly supervises the Manager, Special Events and event staff who handle day-to-day sales, planning, and execution. Special Events (Department Leadership)

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Special Events department, setting the overall vision, annual goals, and growth strategy for non-gameday events at Fifth Third Park
  • Directly supervise the Manager, Special Events and event staff, setting expectations, providing coaching, and holding the department accountable to revenue and service goals
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for event planning, execution, safety, and settlement to ensure consistency and quality across all events
  • Own the special events budget, revenue targets, and financial reporting, partnering with the General Manager on proformas, projections, and departmental P&L
  • Lead the planning and oversight of major public events and marquee productions (large concerts, festivals, and signature community events), stepping in directly where scale, complexity, or risk warrants senior involvement
  • Serve as the club's lead on DBH-routed events and league- or corporate-directed programming, coordinating with DBH and MLB stakeholders as needed
  • Make higher-level decisions on booking priorities, pricing strategy, and key vendor and partner relationships, balancing event demands against the baseball schedule and facility needs
  • Partner cross-departmentally with Food & Beverage, Ticketing, Marketing, Sales, Grounds, and Stadium Operations to align resources and ensure seamless event delivery
  • Ensure all events comply with applicable permits, safety requirements, and MLB PDL and DBH standards, coordinating with Police, Fire/Medical, and County officials as needed
