JOB DESCRIPTION
Varsity Baseball - Head Coach - LANCASTER CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
PAYROLL GRADE: 13 FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
NATURE OF POSITION:
Lancaster Catholic High School is seeking a Varsity Head Coach for the Baseball program. This position is responsible for leading and developing a competitive, faith-centered program that promotes athletic excellence, personal growth, academic success, and spiritual development. The ideal candidate will be an experienced coach who embraces the mission of Lancaster Catholic High School and is committed to education-based athletics within a Catholic institution.
REPORTING FUNCTION: Reports to Principal & Athletic Director
Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the varsity baseball program, including practice planning, game preparation, player development, scheduling coordination, and program organization.
  • Faith and Character Development: Foster a team culture rooted in Catholic values, emphasizing integrity, sportsmanship, discipline, respect, teamwork, humility, and service.
  • Player Development: Teach and develop baseball fundamentals, position-specific skills, game strategy, and leadership qualities in student-athletes.
  • Team Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with student-athletes, parents, assistant coaches, school administration, and other program stakeholders.
  • Recruitment and Program Growth: Support the long-term growth of the baseball program by building relationships with middle school athletes, feeder programs, and the local baseball community.
  • Academic and Personal Support: Encourage and monitor the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes, reinforcing the balance between academics, athletics, faith, and family.
  • Staff Supervision: Recruit, mentor, and collaborate with assistant and sub-varsity coaches to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy and player development throughout the program.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to PIAA regulations, Lancaster Catholic High School policies, and best practices for athlete safety, conditioning, injury prevention, and sportsmanship.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, with a demonstrated ability to build and lead a competitive baseball program.
  • Knowledge of PIAA and NFHS baseball rules and regulations.
  • Faith Commitment: Practicing Catholic preferred, with a strong commitment to supporting and promoting the values of Catholic education.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong organizational, leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, with a passion for developing young people through athletics.
