Description / Position Overview
Parks Maintenance Worker - Urban Parks - (Seasonal Position)
About the Job: In this position, you will perform a variety of maintenance tasks in parks and athletic areas.
Job Type: Seasonal
Work Schedule: Normal work hours will be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (weekends will be required for special events, such as tournaments).
Work Location: Multiple locations in Colorado Springs, CO
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association). The anticipated season is six months long. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.

As a Parks Maintenance Worker, you will:
  • Play a key role in creating a welcoming and clean park environment by providing top-notch customer service, ensuring facilities are well-stocked, and keeping public spaces free of litter and debris.
  • Support exciting community and youth recreation programs by assisting with baseball field preparation, including dragging and lining infields, as well as helping set up sports fields for play.
  • Work alongside experienced Park staff to enhance and maintain beautiful landscapes, gaining hands-on experience in irrigation troubleshooting, turfgrass care, and facility upkeep.
  • Help keep irrigation systems running efficiently through maintenance and repair, contributing to lush, green parks for all to enjoy.
  • Take pride in keeping park facilities in top condition by maintaining cleanliness, refreshing paint, and ensuring amenities are well-kept.
  • Get involved in a variety of landscape and athletic field maintenance tasks, making a direct impact on the park's appearance and functionality.
  • Perform essential and foundational customer service related activities, including litter and trash removal, as well as restroom cleaning and stocking

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, walk-behind rototillers, and seeders
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to safely operate assigned vehicles such as trucks and tractor

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience working in maintenance environments
  • Six months of experience in irrigation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver's license not subject to restrictions.

Additional Information
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions and along high traffic areas. It also requires the ability to stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
