Position Summary
Orange County Baseball Club and Innovation Baseball Partners are seeking a community manager to build an ecosystem of fans for Orange County's new independent professional baseball team.
We're looking for someone who is deeply integrated within the Orange County and baseball ecosystems who will ensure our team is deeply connected in the community and champions the culture that makes Orange County unique.
As the lead for our local fan club, you'll build a positive and lasting community impact, leading all community outreach and managing relationships with civic organizations, schools, nonprofits and more. This role will also help define and execute against our unique product vision of an Asian-inspired baseball experience. This role requires a hands-on self-starter, and a successful candidate will enjoy finding and creating new relationships.
This role collaborates closely with our partnerships team and reports into the Director of Marketing. As a part of the Innovation Baseball portfolio, you will also have influence on and support from the central IBP team as well as the other portfolio teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Relations & Outreach
  • Be the face of the team in the Orange County community. You will actively represent the team at a wide range of local events, from street fairs and festivals to civic meetings and school functions.
  • Build and lead outreach efforts with local schools, nonprofits, and community leaders.
  • Develop and manage community-facing programs and partnerships, such as youth clinics and fan appreciation days.
  • Manage in-kind donations, team appearances, and the mascot's community schedule.
  • Develop annual community impact reports and storytelling assets.
  • Monitor community outreach platforms and fan marketing lists to ensure accuracy and PII security

2. Communications & Public Relations
  • Tell the team's story to the local community. You will serve as a key point of contact for local media and community reporters, sharing updates on our community initiatives and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to execute a communications strategy that highlights our commitment to Orange County.
  • Assist with media relations, press releases, and public announcements related to community programs.

3. Community and Brand Storytelling
  • Ensure our brand is a reflection of Orange County. You will work with the creative team to integrate community stories and partnerships into our brand identity and marketing materials.
  • Develop the Street Team and related programming for the on and off-season.
  • Collaborate with the sponsorship department to create and activate partnerships that have a meaningful impact on the community.
  • Support the Product Manager in defining and developing the Asian baseball experience
  • Work with the digital team to share compelling community content on our social media and website.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in community relations, public relations, or a related field; sports/entertainment industry a plus
  • Strong existing relationships in Orange County required
  • Demonstrated leadership in community engagement and program development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and game days as required

Preferred Attributes:
  • Deep knowledge of and connection to the local community in Orange County, CA
  • Familiarity with Asian Baseball (KBO, NPB, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and storytelling instincts
  • Bilingual (English/Japanese/Korean or other relevant languages)

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: $50,000 to 75,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic considerations
