Position Overview
The Marketing Coordinator for the Lansing Lugnuts is a hands-on role responsible for executing the team’s marketing, promotions, social media, community engagement, and game-day entertainment initiatives.
The Marketing Coordinator will take ownership of day-to-day marketing initiatives, including game-day promotions, social media content, promotional campaigns, sponsor activations, and on-field entertainment. This role works closely with ticketing, sponsorship, operations, food & beverage, and other departments to ensure initiatives are effectively planned and executed.
The ideal candidate is creative, organized, energetic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced sports environment. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a willingness to be hands-on.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Social Media & Digital Marketing-

  • Manage the Lansing Lugnuts’ presence across Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
  • Plan, create, schedule, and publish daily social media content, including graphics, photos, videos, captions, and promotional content.
  • Respond to comments, direct messages, and stories while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Monitor trends and social media analytics to improve engagement, reach, and content performance.

Game-Day Marketing & Promotions-

  • Execute game-day marketing operations, promotions, theme nights, contests, giveaways, and fan engagement activities.
  • Coordinate first pitches, ceremonies, national anthems, on-field activities, and entertainment.
  • Develop game-day scripts, announcements, and talking points.
  • Coordinate with staff, players, performers, vendors, and community partners to ensure smooth execution.
  • Develop new ideas and initiatives to enhance the overall fan experience.

Marketing & Promotional Campaigns-

  • Plan and execute campaigns promoting games, promotions, giveaways, theme nights, and special events.
  • Maintain the seasonal marketing and promotional calendar.
  • Develop creative marketing ideas that support attendance, engagement, and organizational goals.

Sponsorship & Community Engagement-

  • Execute sponsor and community partner activations at games and throughout the Lansing community.
  • Coordinate community events, outreach initiatives, and special appearances.
  • Build relationships with local organizations, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and community groups.

Team Leadership-

  • Assist in hiring, training, managing and mentoring marketing interns throughout the season.
  • Provide guidance and feedback while helping maintain an organized and collaborative marketing team.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration-

  • Collaborate with ticketing, sponsorship, operations, food & beverage, and other departments on marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate with players, coaches, staff, vendors, performers, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Assist with large-scale events, special projects, and other organizational priorities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in marketing, sports, entertainment, social media, events, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X.
  • Experience creating digital content, including graphics, photography, video, and written copy.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Creative problem-solver who can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Previous experience in professional sports, collegiate athletics, entertainment, or live events is preferred.


Work Environment & Schedule
This position operates in a fast-paced professional sports and entertainment environment and requires a combination of traditional office hours and event-based hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during the baseball season.
This is a highly hands-on, game-day-focused position requiring regular presence at Jackson Field and participation in Lugnuts games, events, community appearances, and special projects.
