Job description

Controls Project Sales Representative - Building Automation Controls - Base Salary to 100k/year - Seattle, WA

  • Our client, a stable and growing mechanical services company, has an immediate need for a Controls Project Sales Representative to support customers throughout the Seattle area. This position is specifically focused on commercial HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and control system projects, including upgrades, retrofits, repairs, modifications, and replacements. The Controls Project Sales Representative will work with facility owners, maintenance managers, engineers, and other commercial building stakeholders to identify controls needs, develop technical solutions, prepare proposals, and sell projects based on system performance and value.
  • This role combines technical knowledge of HVAC/building controls with project sales and business development. The representative will manage inbound opportunities while also developing new business, evaluating existing control systems, defining project scope, and coordinating projects from the sales process through turnover to project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sell commercial HVAC controls and building automation system (BAS) projects, including controls upgrades, retrofits, repairs, modifications, replacements, and system improvements
  • Evaluate existing HVAC control systems, building automation systems, equipment, and components to identify customer needs and develop appropriate controls solutions
  • Prepare project designs, scopes of work, cost estimates, and formal project proposals for controls projects
  • Manage inbound project opportunities while developing new business within the assigned market
  • Build and maintain relationships with facility owners, facility managers, maintenance managers, engineers, and other commercial building decision-makers
  • Present controls solutions based on system performance, operational needs, project scope, and value rather than competing primarily on price
  • Coordinate with project managers and internal technical teams to transition sold controls projects from proposal through execution
  • Support commercial customers with building automation, DDC, HVAC controls, controls retrofit, and controls modernization opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of proven success in HVAC sales OR HVAC/controls field experience with strong technical proficiency
  • Experience with HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), DDC controls, building controls, or related commercial control systems
  • Commercial HVAC or commercial building systems experience; residential-only or light-commercial-only experience will not meet the requirements of this position
  • Experience developing and selling technical project solutions, including project scope, estimates, proposals, upgrades, retrofits, repairs, or system modifications

Compensation:

  • Our client is offering a base salary in the 90k - 100k/year range and commission program. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, 401k, PTO, $800/month vehicle allowance, and much more.
