Job description

Valiant is looking for a BAS Technician to join our team. The BAS Technician performs a variety of plant operations such as the oversight, maintenance, troubleshooting or repair of central plant equipment and systems as well as extended electrical/mechanical systems. Systems include, but are not limited to: high pressure/clean steam generators and steam stations, chilled water systems, condenser water systems and open/closed evaporative cooling towers, emergency power generators and switchgear, laboratory air and water systems, pneumatic systems, comfort and process cooling systems, open and closed protocol building automation system to include alarm management, set point manipulation, field support for technicians, field calibration support, and fleet/vehicle key log management. Serve as the focal point for building operations in real-time. Run reports, setup and create trends, alarm histories and algorithms in support of building management. Oversee vendors and subcontractors, act as backup plant engineer/boiler operator and support project manager / trade supervisors in daily management/operations duties. Ensure daily logs and plant rounds are kept up to date and accurate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly communicate with management, teammates, and customers in the form of, meetings, face-to-face, presentations etc.
  • Establishes applicable requirements, standards, and regulations to be followed/met during course of work performance; and ensures all parties involved are in full compliance during work performance.
  • Executes scheduled and unscheduled tasks in timely manner with a strong focus on quality.
  • Solicits Request for Quotes (RFQs) in support of procurement process.
  • Performs maintenance on all types of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or steam actuated equipment and systems.
  • He/she will have the ability to communicate complex communication/equipment repair and/or replacement projects, intricate maintenance schedules, work plans and will serve as the point of contact for central plant work flow and control.
  • Will work closely with project manager / trade supervisors ensuring all records and documentation are kept up to date.
  • Maintain, and repair the Building Automation System (BAS) in accordance with the requirements specified by the manufacturer.
  • Control systems must be maintained and operated as designed, calibration of control sensors and calibration of actuators and devices that are part of the BAS.
  • System shall be calibrated during the maintenance of the system.
  • Also responsible for making set point adjustments as necessary and performing system backups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Manufacturer Factory Certification. Maryland 1st or 3rd Engineer's license.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Basic computer skills for mandatory training classes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Schneider/EcoStruxure BAS
• Experience with pneumatic controls
• ISA CCST certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to facilitate all physical requirements specific to this scope of work successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a sitting / standing position for 8 or more hours per day; Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed; Must be able to travel to job location by automobile. Must be able to work in safe and efficient manner.
