Job description

Job Title: Student Worker - Theatre Program Assistant - Mission Waco

Job Classification: Community Service, Student

Department: Off Campus Community Service

Hiring Manager: Libby Barnhill

Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, available in the afternoons, early evenings, and on Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons, October - Mid December, 400 pm - 6:30 pm on weekdays. March-May 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm on weekdays. Some evenings, January - February

Desired Length of Employment: Fall/Ongoing

Pay Rate: $11.00 - $12.50/hr

Key Components:

POSITION SUMMARY - The Theatre Program Assistant will assist the Theatre Director with teaching various aspects of theatre to children on differing levels as well as engage with Mission Waco after school programs and the larger community. MUST BE ELIGIBLE for FEDERAL WORK-STUDY. This is off-campus employment, so reliable transportation is important.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION - Assisting with theatre classes and lessons; maintaining theatre equipment; working with volunteers; some cleaning duties; afternoon/evening availability necessary
REQUIRED HARD SKILLS - Preferred: Theatre or education majors; excellent theatre experience (Preferably teaching experience); must know basic theatre theory and principles; experience working with children and youth; experience with building sets and props (preferred)
REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS - Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills; Strong Work Ethic
LEARNING OUTCOMES - Education practices; Performance skills; Cultural competency; practice relationship building
Hourly Rate: $11-$12.50/hour (depending on new or returning student worker status and/or any recognized special skill level)
