The Barber to provide exceptional grooming services while delivering a personalized luxury experience for our Members and Guests. This role is responsible for providing precision haircuts, beard grooming, and traditional barbering services while creating a welcoming, refined environment that reflects the Club's commitment to personalized hospitality and five-star service.

Key Responsibilities

Member Experience

  • Deliver exceptionalgrooming experiences tailored to each Member's personal style, preferences, and grooming goals.

  • Build meaningful relationships with Members by providing personalized service and remembering grooming preferences.

  • Welcome Members warmly and create a comfortable, relaxing environment throughout each appointment.

  • Conduct thorough consultations to understand desired styles while providing professional recommendations.

  • Educate Members on grooming techniques, scalp health, beard care, and home maintenance.

  • Recommend grooming services, treatment enhancements, and professional retail products that support each Member's lifestyle.

  • Maintain strict confidentialityregardingall Member information and personal conversations.

  • Promote a warm, professional, and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the luxury standards of The Madison Club.

Grooming Services

  • Perform professional barbering servicesin accordance withClub standards and California State Board regulations.

  • Customize every service to meet the individual needs and preferences of each Member.

  • Perform services including, but not limited to:Men's Haircuts, Classic Barber Cuts, Precision Scissor/ Clipper Cuts, Beard Trim/Shaping, Mustache Grooming, Neck Clean-ups, Shampoo Services, Scalp Treatments, Hot Towel, Straight Razor Shaves

  • Stay current on barbering trends, techniques, and grooming products to continually elevate service offerings.

  • Maintain service timing while ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail.

Spa & Salon Operations

  • Prepare barber stations before each appointment, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and professional presentation.

  • Sanitize all tools, razors, clippers, equipment, and workstationsin accordance withCalifornia State Board regulations and Spa protocols.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of grooming products, retail merchandise, linens, and barbering supplies.

  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.

  • Ensure barber stations consistently reflect the luxury presentation standards of The Madison Club.

  • Report equipment maintenance concerns promptly.

Retail & Product Recommendations

  • Educate Members on professional grooming products and home maintenance routines.

  • Support seasonal retail promotions and product launches.

  • Maintain current knowledge of grooming products, barbering techniques, and industry innovations through continuing education and vendor training.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with SpaCoordinator, Hairstylists, Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Nail Technicians,Spa &Locker Room Attendants, and fellow Spa Providers to ensure a seamless Member experience.

  • CommunicateMember preferences, appointment updates, and operational needs professionally.

  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, product knowledge sessions, and seasonal training.

  • Support fellow Spa team members during busy periods andassistwith operational needs whenever possible.

  • Foster a respectful, collaborative, and positive team environment.

Operational Excellence

  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, discretion, and accountability in every Member interaction.

  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled appointments.

  • Maintain all California licensing requirements and continuing education.

  • Follow all Spa policies, barbering protocols, sanitation standards, and safety procedures.

  • Demonstrate initiative byassistingwith Spa operations between appointments.

  • Maintain barber stations andcommon areasto the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.

  • Performadditionalduties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • CurrentCalifornia Barber LicenseorCalifornia Cosmetology Licenserequired.

  • Minimum2-3 yearsof professional barbering experience preferred in a luxury barbershop, private club, resort, salon, or Spa environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge of precision haircutting, clipper work, scissor cutting, beard grooming, and traditional barbering techniques.

  • Experience with:Men's Haircuts, Precision Scissor Clipper Treatments, Beard/Mustache Trimming & Sculpting, Shampoo/Scalp Treatments, Hot Towel/ Straight Razor Shaves

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company's good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $17.00 Plus Commission and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
