ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (Civil Litigation)

A Day in the Life of an Associate Attorney
As a civil litigation Associate Attorney at Morrison Mahoney LLP, your role is dynamic and engaging, offering a perfect mix of independent responsibilities and collaborative teamwork. You will manage your own caseload from inception to resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while meticulously adhering to deadlines. Your days will be enriched by preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and trials, granting you invaluable courtroom experience. Collaboration is crucial in this role, where you'll engage closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise effective litigation strategies. Clear and regular communication with clients will be essential, as you provide them with updates and interim status reports on their cases.

What Matters Most
To succeed as an Associate Attorney, you will need a robust set of skills and qualifications.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the New Hampshire State Bar, are essential prerequisites.
  • Bar admission in Maine and/or Vermont, or a sufficient UBE score to waive into one or both jurisdictions, considered a plus.
  • You should possess at least four (4) years of prior civil litigation experience and experience in both New Hampshire state and federal courts.
  • Experienced trying cases in NH courts; taking/defending depositions; ADR experience; settlement negotiations.
  • You should be a self-starter with strong advocacy skills. Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, along with the ability to perform legal research and respond to discovery requests, is crucial
  • Taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions will also be part of your role, making attention to detail and effective communication are key attributes for success in this position.
