Job description

Citi is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Investment Banking team, with a focus on the Energy sector, where you will advise clients on capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and broader strategic financial decisions. In this role, you will work alongside experienced bankers to deliver high-quality transaction execution and contribute directly to Citi's growing franchise in the energy space. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of deal processes while shaping client outcomes at a global financial institution.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on capital markets transactions and M&A processes, taking responsibility for deal execution from inception through to close.
  • Lead financial analysis and transaction structuring to support client decision-making across a range of corporate finance mandates in the Energy sector.
  • Develop client relationships by supporting business development activity, including tracking industry trends and contributing to pitches and proposals.
  • Coordinate the flow of information across deal teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality throughout the execution process.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts by providing structured feedback, clear direction, and appropriate credit and exposure information.
  • Contribute to building Citi's Energy franchise by identifying opportunities and supporting the team's strategic positioning in the market.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Institutional Banking team to deliver integrated solutions that meet client objectives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in investment banking or a closely related financial services discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate corporate transactions and financial structures across a range of deal types.
  • Hands-on experience building financial models and conducting detailed financial analysis to support transaction decisions.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses - current or ability to obtain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, providing a strong foundation for strategic and analytical thinking in complex deal environments.
  • Experience in the Energy sector, with familiarity of sector-specific transaction dynamics, market drivers, and regulatory context.
  • Track record of supporting client development activity, including contributing to pitch preparation and maintaining ongoing client dialogue.
