Description
The Garza Law Firm's Runner position is a member of the Firm's Administrative Division and is a support role for all divisions. The Runner is responsible for keeping current with Firm requests that require local travel and various tasks around the firm. The Runner keeps the Firm's needs at the forefront to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. This role's priority is to support the staff with filing motions, couriering documents as needed, and assisting with the basic needs of the Firm.
This position is intended for High School and College students enrolled in classes. The Runner does not have the authority to practice law, give legal advice, or set strategy on a per-case/per-client basis (unless the person filling this position is an attorney in good standing).
Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Filing Documents : The Runner (Seasonal)role supports the Firm's staff to properly file motions at the proper court as directed by the staff.
  • General Cleanliness : Follows the duties manual in daily activities around the firm which are not limited, but include, keeping sinks clean and dishes washed, supplies moved from storage, and running general errands.
  • Depositing Financial Instruments : Coordinates daily with the Bookkeeper regarding any items that need to be taken to the bank.
  • Mail collection and delivery : Provides backup to our Mail specialist on picking up, processing, and delivering mail in a timely manner.
  • Reception : Provides backup to the reception desk if necessary.
  • Staff Support : May be tasked with general activities around the firm which enable the full-time staff to focus on the needs of the clients.
  • Phones : Proactively answer phones on the first ring or when in the vicinity of an unmonitored phone.
  • Stocking : Verify coffee machines and refrigerators (3rd and 6th floors) are properly stocked.

Work Experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills appropriate for a professional environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products.
