What is a bank repo?

A Bank Repo job involves recovering vehicles or other assets from individuals who have defaulted on their loans. Repossession agents locate, secure, and transport the assets on behalf of banks or lending institutions. The job requires knowledge of repossession laws, strong negotiation skills, and attention to detail. Agents may work independently or for a repossession company, often during irregular hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the bank repo position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Bank Repo agent, you need a solid understanding of repossession laws and procedures, basic automotive mechanics, and often a valid driver's license with a clean record. Familiarity with industry-specific software for tracking assets and managing documentation, as well as GPS and vehicle recovery tools, is typically required. Effective communication, conflict resolution, and discretion are crucial soft skills for handling sensitive situations with borrowers and collaborating with lenders. These skills and qualifications ensure successful, lawful asset recovery while maintaining professionalism and minimizing risk.

What are the typical work hours and environments for a bank repo agent?

Bank Repo agents often work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, since vehicle repossessions commonly occur when assets are most likely to be accessible. The role involves both office work (handling paperwork and asset tracking) and fieldwork, which may require driving to various locations, sometimes in challenging environmental conditions. Agents often work independently but may coordinate with law enforcement, lenders, or logistics teams to ensure safe and lawful repossession. The role requires adaptability and self-motivation, as daily responsibilities can vary depending on assignments and repossession schedules.

Job description

Citi is looking for a Business Analyst and Data Analyst (Business Analytics Sr Analyst - C12) to join the Enterprise Data Office and Product Solutions team, where you will play an important role in ensuring that data used for regulatory reporting, risk management, and business decision-making is accurate, timely, and fit for purpose. Working at the intersection of Capital Markets, Risk, Finance, and Technology, you will contribute to how derivatives and securities financing transaction data flows across Citi's enterprise systems, identifying gaps, supporting systematic solutions, and building analytical tools that keep critical reporting processes running with precision. Responsibilities: Analyze end-to-end data flows for derivatives and securities financing transaction products across enterprise systems, identifying gaps and supporting target-state adoption.

Assess data elements used in regulatory reports, documenting current and target-state data mappings and producing structured gap analyses. Design and implement data governance controls, including data quality rules and reconciliation frameworks, to improve the reliability of critical reporting data. Partner with Markets, Risk, Finance, Technology, and Data Engineering teams to gather requirements, define data standards, and support the prioritization and remediation of data quality issues.

Prepare detailed functional specifications covering data transformations, calculation logic, and aggregation rules to enable systematic and scalable solutions. Perform daily variance analysis across assigned trading books, attributing movements to market risk factors, trade activity, model changes, and pricing adjustments with granular precision. Build and maintain analytical tools and dashboards that automate variance reporting, reducing manual effort and improving time-to-insight for stakeholders.

Contribute to monthly governance forums by presenting findings and supporting data-driven decisions that advance regulatory and business reporting outcomes. Required qualifications & skills: Five or more years of experience in banking or financial services, spanning business analysis, information technology, or data controls and governance. Demonstrated ability to contribute to data initiatives from analysis through execution, engaging cross-functional teams and communicating findings clearly to both technical and business audiences.

Proficiency in data analysis using SQL, Python or Excel to interrogate large, complex datasets and surface actionable insights. Familiarity with prompt engineering and automation using generative AI and large language models to improve data workflows. Solid knowledge of one of the Capital Markets or Banking products listed below, with hands-on experience analyzing derivatives (Equities, FX, Interest Rate Swaps, Commodities) or securities financing transactions (Repo, Reverse Repo, Securities Lending and Borrowing) or Wholesale Loans.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, maintaining organization and delivery momentum across complex, cross-functional workstreams. Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field. Beneficial skills & qualifications: Ability to present complex data findings and solution proposals to senior business partners and support stakeholder alignment.

Experience with data management tooling, including process mapping, data lineage, and governance platforms, with a working understanding of regulatory data requirements and data quality standards. What we offer: Joining Citi's Enterprise Data Office means working on challenges that directly shape how one of the world's largest financial institutions manages its data, at scale, across global markets, and in close collaboration with teams spanning Risk, Finance, Technology, and Capital Markets. This is a role where your analytical contributions carry real weight and your work has measurable impact on regulatory and business outcomes.

A hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, giving you flexibility while staying connected to your team. Exposure to complex, high-impact data challenges across Capital Markets, regulatory reporting, and enterprise data governance at a global scale. Collaboration with senior stakeholders across Markets, Risk, Finance, and Technology, giving you broad visibility and the opportunity to grow your influence across the organization.

Access to learning and development resources to build your expertise in data analytics, AI-accelerated tooling, and financial services. A performance-driven environment that values ownership, analytical rigor, and the ability to deliver measurable improvements to critical business processes. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package aligned to your experience.

Apply now to bring your Capital Markets data expertise to a role where your work directly strengthens the integrity of Citi's regulatory reporting and data governance at a global scale.
