Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
About the Role:
As a Business Data Analyst at First Horizon Bank within Enterprise Data Management you will focus on strategic data initiatives for the company. This may include technical data mapping, support of data integrity initiatives, or strategic solutions and problem solving for new implementations. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate transformation, integration, and documentation of data across our systems. The analyst collaborates across technology, operations, and business teams to drive effective use of data at First Horizon Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with associates across departments to collect and document business data requirements for new and existing systems.
  • Analyze data structures and system documentation to ensure proper mapping and transformation of data between various platforms and databases.
  • Design and maintain detailed data mapping specifications, source-to-target documentation, and data dictionaries to support development and integration teams.
  • Utilize advanced technical queries (such as SQL or similar scripting languages) to access, analyze, and validate data across multiple systems.
  • Coordinate with associates across departments to understand business requirements and assess data impacts.
  • Work closely with project managers, developers, and business stakeholders to identify potential data issues or mismatches and propose effective solutions.
  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and edge cases; proactively identify and address potential gaps in requirements or design.
  • Assist in the validation and testing of data migration/integration activities to ensure data quality, consistency, and completeness.
  • Partner with technology teams to define technical requirements for resolving systemic data problems and enhancing data quality controls.
  • Support implementation efforts for data governance and metadata management solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions between business stakeholders and technology teams to ensure accurate and actionable issue resolution.
  • Document lineage and flow of data from origin to final reporting output, ensuring transparency for regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise during system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements, with primary focus on mapping and data integration impacts.
  • Provide informed recommendations that balance immediate business needs with long-term scalability and data integrity.
  • Assist in defining and documenting data management policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Engage effectively with both technical and business audiences. Communicate technical information clearly to associates who may not have a data/IT background.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical data mapping, data integration, or database administration, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), and ETL processes.
  • Advanced skills in SQL or other data querying languages, with demonstrated experience writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries.
  • Experience gathering and documenting data requirements, developing mapping documents, and managing metadata.
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security principles in financial environments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; able to think critically about requirements, risks, and dependencies.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with banking core systems and third-party data integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory data requirements in financial institutions.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or similar for data validation purposes.
