KPMG's Banking & Capital Markets Management Consulting practice helps banks, credit unions, payment providers and fintechs design and implement business and technology change. We work across commercial and retail banking, payments and digital banking operations, from strategy and target-state design through requirements, process redesign, integration, testing, implementation, operational readiness and adoption. 

As a Consultant, you will support banking transformation programs by combining industry understanding, structured analysis and hands-on delivery. You will work with experienced banking specialists and client teams to improve processes, define requirements and help implement new operating models and technology solutions. 


What you will do
  • Support current-state assessments, process mapping, root-cause analysis and target-state design for banking operations and customer journeys. 
  • Gather and document business requirements, user stories, process flows, data needs and acceptance criteria under the guidance of senior team members. 
  • Analyze banking processes across areas such as commercial/retail banking, lending, deposits, onboarding, servicing, payments and digital banking operations. 
  • Support system implementation activities including requirements validation, testing, defect tracking, data analysis, migration support and operational readiness. 
  • Prepare clear client deliverables, analyses, meeting materials and status updates using structured problem-solving approaches. 
  • Participate in client workshops and collaborate with business, operations and technology stakeholders. 
  • Track actions, risks, dependencies and decisions and proactively follow up to support timely delivery. 
  • Contribute to KPMG proposals, research, practice content and internal knowledge-sharing activities. 

What you bring to the role
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, fintech, consulting, business analysis, operations or technology delivery. 
  • Experience in a bank, credit union, fintech, financial-services organization or consulting/technology role serving financial institutions. 
  • Genuine interest in banking operations and technology-enabled transformation, with a desire to build deep industry expertise. 
  • Basic understanding of one or more banking processes or products and how they are supported by systems and data. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, with attention to detail and an ability to see the broader process. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively and take ownership of assigned deliverables. 
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Visio, Power BI, SQL or similar tools is helpful. 
  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, information systems/technology, economics, finance or a related discipline.

Nice to have 

  • Exposure to core banking, lending, payments, digital banking, customer onboarding, workflow/case management or banking operations. 
  • Experience with requirements analysis, process modelling, UAT/testing or agile delivery. 
  • Understanding of APIs, data flows, digital platforms or systems integration.
