Personal Banker

About the Role

The Personal Banker serves as a trusted financial partner to our customers by building relationships, understanding individual financial needs, and recommending appropriate banking solutions. Based at our Stevenson location in Springfield, IL. this role blends personalized customer service with sales, operational accuracy, and community engagement. If you enjoy helping people reach their financial goals and thrive in a relationship-focused, local banking environment, this role may be a great fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers through proactive, personalized service
  • Open and service consumer deposit accounts, including checking, savings, and certificates of deposit
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and services (e.g., loans, digital banking tools, credit solutions)
  • Conduct financial conversations that support customers’ short- and long-term goals
  • Process customer financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and other related services.
  • Process routine transactions accurately while complying with bank policies and regulatory requirements
  • Resolve customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Support branch goals through referrals, cross-selling, and teamwork
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve branch goals and objectives

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ years of prior experience in retail banking, financial services, sales, or customer service preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse customer base
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using banking systems and standard office technology
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based branch environment
