This role is designed for an established environmental professional with deep, aviation‑specific expertise who is ready to shape direction, influence executive decision‑making, and operate as a national center of excellence for environmental due diligence across major U.S. airports.
Opportunity
This is a senior leadership position with dual impact: Operational Leadership – supporting practice leadership in resource planning, financial performance, quality assurance, and risk management; and Technical Center of Excellence – serving as a national authority for airport environmental issues, overseeing and advising on Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Categorical Exclusions (CatEx) for major airport capital programs.
Responsibilities
- Strategic & Operational Leadership: Partner with Aviation Practice leadership to drive operational excellence, including forecasting, staffing strategy, margin management, and quality control.
- Technical Authority – Aviation Environmental Due Diligence: Provide senior oversight and direction on airport NEPA and environmental issues, including EIS, EA, CatEx, Part150 Noise Compatibility Programs, stand‑alone noise and air quality analyses, and support for airfield expansion, runway extensions, terminal redevelopment, and landside infrastructure projects.
- Client Advisory & Market Leadership: Act as an executive‑level advisor to airport sponsors and aviation clients, support business development efforts, and represent the firm in industry forums such as Airports Council International (ACI), American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and Airport Consultants Council (ACC).
- Lead internal technical reviews and serve as escalation authority for complex environmental risk issues.
- Mentor mid‑level staff and build bench strength in aviation‑focused NEPA delivery.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience with a strong concentration in aviation infrastructure.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex NEPA documents (EIS, EA, CatEx) for commercial service airports.
- Direct experience working with FAA Airport District Offices and regional environmental staff.
- Strong command of environmental risk mitigation strategies in large capital improvement programs.
- Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Track record of operational oversight – budget accountability, utilization management, and performance leadership.
- Advanced degree in environmental science, planning, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Benefits and Compensation
Base compensation range: $160,000 – $180,000 annually, based on local market. The firm offers a comprehensive total rewards package that may include extensive medical, disability, and life insurance coverage, continuing education benefits, paid time off, an employee assistance program, and a retirement savings plan with company matching contributions.
