Job Description
The Financial Data Scientist provides advanced financial and analytical support through mathematical and statistical modeling, forecasting, and data-driven insights. This role leverages strong mathematical, statistical, and programming skills to analyze historical company performance as well as model and forecast future results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis
- Apply time series modeling techniques to support revenue, expense, pricing, and volume forecasting
- Analyze large and complex datasets using SQL and Python to identify trends, risks, and performance drivers
- Design, automate, and maintain repeatable analytics and reporting solutions
- Partner with finance leadership and business stakeholders to translate analytical results into actionable insights
- Support budgeting, planning, and performance management processes with rigorous quantitative analysis
- Validate data accuracy and resolve data quality issues across multiple financial and operational systems
- Prepare clear, concise management presentations and written summaries explaining assumptions, methodology, and results
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, engineering or applied mathematics, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, etc.)
- Experience with time series analysis and forecasting techniques
- Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with version control and reproducible coding and analytics workflows
- Experience in credit card payment processing
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to extract, collect, organize, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Experience in analytics, advanced analytics/statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, data visualization
- Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
- Experience in python/R/SAS/SQL for data extraction, data mining, and predictive analytics
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
